I stopped by the Dickey’s BBQ Pit in Alpharetta recently, and while the restaurant itself felt a bit quiet and dim when I walked in, the service was excellent. The person at the counter was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about the customer experience.

I ordered the brisket, smoked chicken, and ribs — and honestly, the food was much better than I anticipated. The brisket was standout good — tender, flavorful, and comparable to what you’d find at more high-end barbecue spots. The smoked chicken was a little dry, but that’s fairly common for smoked poultry, and the flavor was still solid. The ribs had a strong smoke profile — maybe a bit more than I prefer — but they were meaty, came clean off the bone, and tasted great overall.

I didn’t try any sides this time, just the meats, and for what I paid, it was a very fair deal. Despite the sleepy atmosphere, the food quality was genuinely impressive. This location may not look like much, but it’s quietly been serving good barbecue for years — and I’m glad it’s still around as an affordable local option.

This place has the tell-tale signs of going out of business. The tables were empty at lunchtime. No napkin holders or sauces were out. Several bench seats were ripped and stacked with boxes. The tea containers were completely empty and not brewing; the manager poured tea from a gallon jug from behind the counter.

And the food was sub-par. The pork BBQ was dry, and the rolls were NOT the hot, fresh yeast rolls that Dickey’s is known for. They were room temperature, day-old (or x-frozen) grocery store dinner rolls. Yuk!

I usually love Dickeys BBQ, but this place was a big disappointment. It’s clear this location is suffering from lack of business, and they are cheaping out to try and hang on. I feel for them, but don’t plan on returning.

Dickey’s Corp really should look into this location to see if they are violating franchise standards.

LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS! 3 of the 6 pieces of “Texas toast” were not even toasted and they’re actually soggy! and 1 is an end piece!! seriously?! plus it’s not even Texas toast, just plain white bread! The meat is DRY, more fat and grizzle than actual meat. The coleslaw is not fresh, definitely going sour. My 8 year old could cook better BBQ than this. THE WORST bbq I’ve EVER had in my life and I can’t even get a refund. This place should be out of business.

Awesome spot! I usually go in for the grilled chicken and jalapenos cheddar sausage, but today I got the Ranch Boss: chicken and brisket sandwich… I did it naked (no sauce), so good. Great owners. Love it!

I don’t know how everyone rates such small
portion in photo for two meat plate. But I cannot rate more than 2 stars for a $19 dish. Brisket was dry and they missed chop/slice. I have to say that there are quite a few good bbq places around. It’s not worthy considering here at all!

Btw, the owner told me to email him. I did the same day. No response of course. He just wanted to pretend that he cared customers while actually not.

Alpharetta location. DO NOT GO HERE! I should have listened to the reviews! I had never been here but it was close by so I’m always one to give a place a chance. Bad call, everything these reviews say is true. Dark, unclean, no one in the place. The meat itself was ok but everything else was awful, no taste. The toast was a piece of cold, white bread. Baked potato casserole was dark mashed potatoes with no flavor. Vinegar tasting beans, sour coleslaw. The prices are ridiculous for the size even if the food was actually good. The fact that this cold, tasteless food was $47 for 2 meals is the most ridiculous part of this. They need to close this place down. I will be sticking to Sonny’s and Jim n’ Nicks for sure. This was so disappointin!

The store owner Ravi completely dishonored the T-Mobile Tuesday deal of a free sandwich. I put in the order online using the TMobile Tuesday offer coupon for a free sandwich and he said he is not participating in that and he can’t serve the sandwich even after the order went through completely online to his store. He was arrogant about it and asked me and couple of other customers to leave the store. I wasted my gas and time driving to this store. Please don’t go in there!

I ordered 3 items. I was given the wrong thing for 2 of the 3 things…how does that happen. I ordered a bowl of chili which is supposed to come with brisket, pork, cheese, and chives…the bowl I was given had ZERO brisket, pork, cheese, or chives. I also ordered (1) slice of Texas toast, and was given a “breadstick,” 1/2 the size of an Olive Garden breadstick. Mind you, there were no other customers in the restaurant…so it’s not like they were swamped, busy, etc., to excuse the poor accuracy of my order. Poor service

4/23/25 Update: You can see managements reply, and their decision to not replace/provide the original items that were ordered, and not provided at pickup. IE., because they’re not serious about fixing the issues…as demonstrated by the multitude of bad reviews left by customers. BEWARE

Very small portions of food. The plates looked empty compared to other similar establishments (I work at a bbq restaurant, so I know how a meat plate should look like). Along with the other reviews for this location… food was dry.
