This might just be The Best BBQ you will ever eat. The pool room slaw is incredible and you must try the slaw dogs. Their BBQ is, in my opinion, historic. If you are in The Shoals area it is a must have. Great service and very sweet family that owns it. A family owned restaurant since it’s inception.

As someone who LOVES barbecue sauce, know that their pulled pork does not have any sauce. It is smoked so well and flavored perfectly, then it is covered with amazing hot coleslaw (like chow chow). This is by far one of the best barbecue sandwiches I’ve ever had. The folks here are super sweet.

Pretty pedestrian food. Ribs were almost like parboiled. No char or bark to speak of. The chicken was the best thing we ate. The slaw dog gets a mixed review. My wife loved it. I thought it was ok but nothing really special. The staff was really nice.

Best BBQ and slaw I have EVER had!!! A new friend told me about Dick Howell’s BBQ, and I am so grateful he did. Fantastic food, generous portions and prices so low I wonder how they stay in business. A really low key restaurant where the food and friendly service speaks for itself. 4th generation family owned and operated.
My husband and I both enjoyed the BBQ plate for around $6. We could hardly speak because we could not stop eating. I am going back to try the ribs, which I hear is one of their best sellers.

I have very disappointed and let down. I will never visit this place again. I am self proclaimed BBQ Connoisseur. My family is know to travel from state to state just for BBQ. I recently moved to Florence to give the local food a try. I have attempt to be patron of this establishment prior to this day.
The first time the didn’t have any ribs so we assumed it was hour and half to closing so out of assumption we thought it was a busy day. 2nd time, no ribs and this was noon. The guy in back so come back tomorrow. I was upset so I decided to give another try a couple weeks later. Before noon this time I tried the guy in the back says every time yall come we don’t have any. I refused to go back but my friend say ill go pick some up but i will call this time. A lady answers and says yes we have some. He asked can we order a couple plates, we are ten minutes away. He goes into the store in 20 minutes later He returns to the car with the plates. Told me it took long due the lady couldn’t get them on plate and microwave failed. I get some the food is dumped in and cold. Who makes cole slaw with mustard peppers and vinegar. Ribs taste like vinegar. Some part tender some hard like it was oven baked not grilled or smoked. If you people here in Florence love this place you need to get some new taste buds. The food is horrible just like their service.

They catered our lunch today Greenway CDJR. Had the ribs today. Amazing!!! Fall off the bone. Potato salad, baked beans and the slaw were just as good. Highly recommend to anyone in the Shoals.
