Was able to get an 8:30 dinner reservation on New Year’s Eve, but had to wait a bit for our table. We sat at the bar while we waited, and due to the crowd had to wait a bit for our order to be taken. When it was, the bartender seemed almost annoyed. He made little eye contact, did not smile or engage in any conversation. Once seated however, our server Sergio more than made up for that. He was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Unfortunately, because of our late seating, there were some menu items that were no longer available. I wanted the 1/2 rack of ribs, but instead got the bacon wrapped scallops. They were served wonderfully hot, with the scallops being nice and flaky and the bacon adding a nice smokey flavor. The only down side was the amount of bacon fat they were sitting in. I also had the Lobster Bisque soup, which was creamy and a bit savory, but could have used some more lobster pieces. My husband had the Beer Battered Jumbo Shrimp, which came in massive pieces. There was a little too much breading on it for my liking, but he enjoyed it very much. We also started with the Colossal Mushrooms, one of the specials, which were very good. However, here too, a little too much breading for my taste. Diamond Jim’s has a classic supper club feel, but with Italian decor. Quite interesting. A good experience overall.

Prime Rib was excellent and melted in your mouth. Enjoyed the French onion soup and the pomegranate martini and my husband’s black Manhattan were delicious. We were visiting for the night and went to China Lights and our dining experience made our night perfect. Great service and food. I really wanted prime rib and this did not disappoint.

More like Cubic Zirconia Jim’s. Overall the experience was middling at best.

Started with an old fashioned sweet at the bar. It was not muddled and the mix was cinnamon flavored, like literally all you could taste was cinnamon. Everyone who ordered an old fashioned did not order another. One of the worst old fashioned I have had at a supper club.

For dinner I ordered the Seafood platter sauteed which came with 2 shrimp, 2 scallops, and a large piece of cod. For my starter I went with the French onion soup and for a side I ordered the green beans.

After placing our order the relish tray and bread came out which were nothing to write home about. A few limp olives, carrots, radishes, and green onions. The bread could have come from Wal Mart’s deli. As a table of 8, 6 of the meals came out at once and the last two came five minutes later. My seafood trio was missing the fish which came out another 5 minutes later because it “had to be cooked to perfection.”

The soup was fine, relatively flavorless but at least there was a lot of cheese? The green beans were very good, crisp wish a nice garlic seasoning. Now onto the seafood. The scallops were cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning and flavor. The shrimp was slightly overcooked and bland. The cod was way overcooked and completely flavorless. I’m not sure how the seafood was all so bland when the plates were swimming in butter.

Overall a very average meal and definitely not worth the price. The service was fine, nothing to write home about.

I very much enjoy the supper club atmosphere. Wait staff are very friendly. We started with the fried eggplant appetizer, which were very large cuts dipped in a light and crispy batter and served with lemon wedges, parm cheese, and marinara sauce. ($12). Soup or salad comes with an entrée along with a small bread basket and relish tray. The four piece fried chicken was wonderful and priced at $25. I had the half rack of ribs for $22 and paid a small upcharge for the twice baked potato. I had a lot left over. The husband ordered the bone in ribeye, which he said was cooked to perfection. The daughter also ordered a piece of banana cream pie to go. Everything was absolutely delicious.

Waitress was slow, only had 2 tables. Kept forgetting lemons and limes for water that we asked for. Kitchen put my steak with my husband’s side and I got his steak with my side. Porterhouse was very tough for being $60. Won’t be coming back.

Earlier this evening I was looking for new places to go for dinner and in doing so I always like to spend some time reading reviews. The majority of the reviews for this restaurant were fantastic so I browsed through them and then dug into the few bad ones to see if they carried any weight…they didn’t. One suggested that the bread was something that could have been purchased at Walmart and asserted that though the cook on the seafood was decent the seasoning was not up to par and put the restaurant in a two-star category for individual taste. Some people have an aversion to heavy seasoning and some people have burned their taste buds so bad that they need twice the seasoning to be able to make it taste at all so I struggle with the one off two stars and one Stars meaning anything.
That having been said I will tell you about our time at Diamond Jim’s tonight. We arrived without a reservation a party of two and immediately sat down at the bar to have a couple of drinks before dinner. I enjoyed a glass of J Henry bourbon and my date enjoyed a sugar cookie martini. Very shortly we were seated at a secluded little corner table with all the Ambiance one could ask for for a romantic date. She ordered the filet and I ordered the bone-in ribeye. Both of our steaks were cooked as ordered and tasted fantastic. The Almond garlic green beans that I had for a side were flavorful and perfectly seasoned and the Caesar salad before dinner was garnished with buttered garlic croutons that were a great compliment to the salad and dressing. My steak was grilled and charred the way that I remembered some of the best steaks from years past from some of the best supper clubs in northern Wisconsin and beyond.
We absolutely love the place and we will be returning to sample the fish fry some Friday night and enjoy the atmosphere. The service was fantastic and the whole experience was very enjoyable. Sally was our waitress and we very much enjoyed her personality and attentiveness. Truth be told the only thing that was a problem was that I was running out of room when it came time to have the apple pie ala mode with cinnamon ice cream for dessert. That really didn’t stop me from finishing it though LOL.
Diamond Jim’s is a local gem… pardon the pun.

My wife and I were both extremely surprised about the quality and taste of the meat for the price.
Everything was cooked to perfection and our server Cindy was genuinely pleasant. I’ve NEVER left a review for anything before, but I felt our experience was definitely worth mentioning.

Had the Wis traditional fish fry. Most excellent! Best I have had in years. The brandy old fashioned was delish. Great small supper club atmosphere. The prime rib is wonderful as well. Go there now.

We had a Christmas party there in the back room nice. The steak was really good, the chicken was made with different spices and herbs that I’m used too so it was alright. Just my taste is different that others. Hosts were awesome.

Our party consisted of 5 adults and 3 children celebrating Mother’s Day on Saturday. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed their entree’s. The steaks were cooked perfect, the twice baked potatoes were amazing, juicy tender lobster and scallops, the prime was a true flavorful experience. We even ordered after dinner ice cream drinks, turtle cheese cake, apple pie served with cinnamon ice cream and the kids had vanilla ice cream. The only negative was the the tables were too close together and people had a hard time walking through without bumping your chair. We loved the old school steak house feel and decor. It was a bit on the pricey side. The prices certainly went up considerably from the menus posted on Facebook.
We don’t mind paying money for great food so Diamond Jim’s is now on the top of my list for fine, delicious food!!!
