⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 out of 5 stars

Dexter’s Barbecue in Farmington has some standout qualities, starting with the exceptional customer service. The three young ladies working up front were absolutely awesome — friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to offer solid recommendations. They really know the menu inside and out, which made ordering a breeze.

One important tip: get there early. By the time I arrived later in the day, they were already sold out of quite a few items, which was a bit of a letdown. Luckily, I still got to try the Cajun brisket loaded fries and a half rack of ribs. The brisket fries were definitely the highlight — loaded with perfectly cooked brisket and full of flavor. The ribs, on the other hand, were just okay. They were tender, but lacked that deep smoky flavor you’d expect from a good barbecue joint. Maybe a different wood or longer smoking process would’ve made the difference.

The restaurant itself was very clean, neat, and welcoming, with a warm, cozy vibe and plenty of seating available. It’s a solid spot with great service and potential, but just needs a little more consistency when it comes to the barbecue itself. I’d give it another try — just a little earlier in the day next time!

Food was great I was just frustrated that I wasn’t able to upsize my sides. The little sides just aren’t enough for me and I wanted to upgrade to the pint size nut it wasn’t an option. I had the 3 meat plate the brisket was awesome tender and juicy. The ribs and pulled pork were great too. They have great baked beans and potato salad.

Stopped in here while staying at local hotel. The food came out very quickly. The food was just so so. I asked the waitress brisket or pulled pork. She recommended brisket. Brisket could of have a bit more flavor but was tender. Fries were ok. Slaw was so so. Again, all in all so so dinner. If I’m area again I probably won’t eat here.

Good place in Farmington area to get BBQ. clean always if they busy might take them a second to get to dining area to clean but they do eventually. you know exactly what your getting here order, drink, get good hot food. Only thing about this location is the staff not as friendly as other dexters I’ve been to such as (dexter and Cape G) that crew in cape G is awesome so maybe I’m choosy.

Many people like this place, it just wasn’t all that great to me. Had the brisket, and it didn’t have a whole lot of flavor. The staff were great, and the inside is clean, and welcoming.

Ribs are the best every single TIME. Brisket is also juicy as well as delicious and worth the extra spent on it. 10/10 would recommend for smoky meats.

Decent smoke flavor on the ribs, but the lack of a flavorful bark necessitated the use of sauce. This isn’t normally too much of a problem, but the liquid smoke added to some of the sauces overpowered the real smoke flavor on the meat itself.

Food portion sizes were okay, though the teenagers in my party stated they thought the portion size on the BBQ nachos was somewhat small in comparison to other barbecue restaurants.

I enjoyed self-serve on beverages and they do offer complementary soft-serve ice cream.

This may be a little harsh.
My very first time here.
Firstly you walk in and go to the counter, looking up at their menu board, place your order & pay.
Pay without seeing anything or tasting anything unless you’re an employee or been here before. Smh..
Ok, so make your drink, fountain or tea etc..
Find you a table and wait for your order to come.
Seemed like a while which was weird being the pork steak I ordered is smoked (pre-cooked),but it came. Sides were good, hot!
Pork Steak, luke warm.
Decent flavor but too rough to cut with a fork.
Now the thing about these barbecue places is that they’re just serving meat that you put barbecue sauce on.
I’ve been cooking since I was seven opened two restaurant establishments and can run any back of the house. Barbecue is smoked or grilled with barbecue sauce caramelized onto the meat slowly, not only creatine the tenderness you can cut with a fork but that real summertime barbecue flavor.
These barbecue places claiming to be barbecue places aren’t really.
Except a joint called The Pig in Fredericktown, Mo.
That’s barbecued barbecue like I would do in my backyard or anywhere.
Back to Dexter’s.
It’s decent you have a choice of sauces hot & barbecue on the table.
I’m not sure I’d want to go back for anything but I’m curious about the ribs! However I don’t want to spend my money on Rob’s that aren’t barbecued barbecue ribs without seeing how they’re looking firstly?
It’s worth a go but I’m not sure about a light frequency even.
And before any response is written on my opinion, know this is my experience and my opinion. Nothing personal.
