In the state of Iowa, there are a lot of restaurants to choose from. Why go to Dexfield Diner? Because they are not just a restaurant, they are a gift. Some restaurants you open a door, you get food, you pay and leave. At Dexfield Diner, its about so much more. You walk in and are immediately treated like family. And not from just your server… the waitresses, the barkeep, the owner… you just feel appreciated walking in. When your waitress goes over ever single item that impresses her, makes personal recommendations and runs the place because it brings her so much joy, you know you’ve entered the right restaurant. Im a massive pork tenderloin fan as well as a guy who is always looking for the “place” that has soul, ambience and has that “Cheers” mentality that the restaurant I just entered is actually more like a warm, soft place to go to when home seems so far away. The pork tenderloin my friend and I got was perfection. It had a great thickness to it, but not too much. Breading had great flavor and a coating that didnt fall apart when you begin the marathon of devouring this tender, thick full of flavor fried delight. The fried mushrooms, there just arent proper words to describe what heaven tastes like. And these heavenly morsels were nestled beside some ranch dipping sauce, ya know the kind you wish you had at home all the time? Its the real type of home-made ranch sauce you want several packets of before leaving. This place has a great feel to it. Its not all the food. Its not all the people… its the fact that you combine all the great elements of this place and scratch your head wondering, what else am I missing? This place satisfies you from your first step in and lasts several weeks after you have left, then you realize – I need to return. I want more of “that” so you find your way back to this place. Its the repeat effect. Before you leave, you wish you had room for more food to try. All I know is when I left, I wanted to high five the owner, applaud our server over and over again and just thank the Man above that you can find such heavenly food right in here in a little place called home, I mean the Dexter Diner in Redfield, Iowa. “Is this Heaven?” No, its the Dexfield Diner. Come get you some!

This small town diner is worth the drive. They serve a top notch breaded tenderloin that is tender, flavorful and has just the right seasoning. They have the stringy onion rings, and have a very large gluten free menu. I particularly like their Thursday special – a hot roastbeef sandwich over potatoes. They also serve great pizza, and if you need that gluten free, you can get a cauliflower crust. They have awesome service and are worth the four mile drive north of I80 at exit 100

This place is absolutely outstanding, from the food to the atmosphere to the staff. The tenderloin is one of the best ever and all the other food is amazing. Even the mushrooms, onion rings and cheese sticks are hand breaded and everything has a gluten free option. Don’t sleep on the pizza either because it’s top notch as well!

The food here is excellent & the fried mushrooms was my favorite. The entire staff was friendly & even the owner of the restaurant stopped at our table to make sure everything was great, as I seen him do to many other tables. You don’t see the owner checking in & thanking everyone for swinging out at other restaurants. Highly recommend getting the Tenderloin also! Great work to the entire crew!

We have eaten at the Dexfield Diner several times and have always had a wonderful experience. Not only are the servers pleasant and provide quality customer service, but the owner Steve checks on customers to make sure everything is up to par. His dedication to providing a great experience for his customers is beyond measure. The food is fantastic and they have the most amazing hand breaded mozzarella cheese sticks I have ever had! These things are not frozen from a package and are gigantic! SO GOOD! The burgers, tenderloins, pizza, fish fry and daily specials are always on point. If you are in the Redfield area, make sure you stop in!

Fish and chip’s
Walleye, I might add. Plus a generous amount of fish. Fresh cut fries. Pretty legit.
