We’ve been to The Dew Pond Restaurant a few times now and it continues to impress. It’s one of those places that consistently delivers quality, both in the food and the overall experience.
The scallops were excellent, perfectly cooked, delicate and full of flavour. The beef was beautifully tender and cooked to perfection, exactly as requested, which really shows the attention to detail in the kitchen. To finish, the crème brûlée was spot on: lovely caramelised glazing on top with a smooth, rich texture underneath a proper classic done right.
Service is always attentive and professional without being overbearing, and the atmosphere feels relaxed and refined, making it ideal for a special evening or simply enjoying a quality meal in a peaceful countryside setting.
Another lovely touch is the artwork displayed around the restaurant. There are a number of art pieces on the walls available to purchase from local artists, which adds character to the space and creates a great combination of fine dining and supporting local creativity.
A great restaurant that we’re always happy to return to. Consistently high standards and well worth a visit.

An amazing valentine’s dinner. The course selection was lovely, the prep and presentation outstanding and a great evening thanks to a hard working team at the Dew Pond. It’s well worth a visit but do make a booking.

Amazing as usual, have been coming here for 15 years and it’s never disappoints. Food is amazing and service is attentive without being overbearing. Price is set at £42/£48 for 2/3 courses, with 5 or 6 daily changing seasonal dishes. Some dishes like the soufflé are always available.
This time we had the Mushtoom risotto, salmon, scallops and souffle to start. They were all fresh and delicious. Mains of Duck and beef were great with the duck really shining, although some more of the carrot purée would have been lovely. The dessert of cherry and almond tart was spectacular!
Can’t wait to come back again soon!
Make sure you booking in advance!

We had never had a bad experience whenever we visited this fantastic restaurant. The atmosphere is so warm and comforting, the service impeccable, and the food and wine are second to none.
As far as we are concerned, The Dew Pond is the best restaurant in Newbury and the surrounding area. We have no hesitation in recommending this amazing family-run restaurant

Lovely birthday visit to The Dew Pond. After a very warm welcome by owners Julie and Keith, we enjoyed drinks outside on the decking, overlooking the garden and surrounding greenery. As usual, also enjoyed some delicious cheese straws while perusing the menu.
I went for the cheese soufflé, beef and a very refreshing espresso ice cream – perfect way to finish in the warm weather.
Service from Marie and Emma was a particular highlight – considerate and professional but giving enough space to enjoy yourself.
Would highly recommend at any time of the year but particularly as we come into the warmer weather, it’s a beautiful place to visit.

Came here tonight with my dad, sister and husband to celebrate our wedding which we had just had after driving more than 2hrs from Somerset. The service was fine but food was nothing special despite the high reviews I read. The risotto was just OK but could have certainly done with more flavour. The crab was fine but nothing special. The duck was cooked well and the only thing we ordered that was above average, while the pork was dry, tough and lacked depth of flavour. I emailed and clearly informed Keith from the team that it was our wedding and not a single thing was done to acknowledge our visit or make it special. None of the staff even bothered to say congratulations. Maybe there was an element of discrimination being that we were the only people of colour in the restaurant. I mentioned this to the waitress upon our departure and she did not utter a single remorse nor did she display any signs of care. I would whole heartedly suggest all to avoid. The food is not worth the price and they clearly do not care to accommodate special requests especially if you are a person of colour. I will be sharing this across my social media platform, suggesting others to avoid this place.

Back again after many years absence and nothing has changed (in a good way).
Still lovely, well prepared, well presented English food.
A fixed menu but with wide ranging choices and an extensive wine list to suit all budgets.
Perfect for a celebration or just enjoying great cooking.
