Bought 1 pound of Cracklins. They were extremely over cooked. Some were practically burnt. I ate a few and called to let them know. Asked if I could bring them back. Basically, they said, “No, sorry! Better luck next time! Taste them before you leave next time.” So if you’re gonna pay almost $30 for a pound of cracklings make sure you taste them before you leave!

It’s attached to a gas station. The lady that helped us was very nice. My dad and I got their cracklins and jalapeño cream cheese boudin ball. They brought fresh boudin balls out right as we were ordering. I think that was the best boudin ball I’ve ever had. The cracklins were cooked well but they could’ve used more seasoning. They had a lot of options there though and I’d go back just to buy meat and a few boudin balls again.

Very clean and organized store. The staff were helpful and patient with me since it was my 1st time there. I was able to purchase hot food that I used as samples before buying. The pepper jack boudin ball are the best! The pork and chicken crackling were well seasoned and not too crunchy.

Devillier Boudin USED to be my favorite place in the state of Texas to get cracklins and other cajun cuisine. I cannot count how many times I have driven all the way from Galveston to Baytown to satisfy my cravings for good boudin and cracklins. I have been a loyal customer since 2020.
The food and staff have always been fabulous and I have recommended them to literally hundreds of people.

But… things have changed!!!
A few days ago I learned about their new second location and decided to check it out and support a business that was near and dear to my heart.

However, my experience was HORRIBLE!!!
The pork cracklins were old and hard as rocks… and the chicken cracklins tasted old. (This was at 10am).

At first I thought that the new staff may just be having a bad day, so I called the Baytown location (where I have always received great food and service) to express my disappointment. Angie was super sweet and told me to come by there and she would replace them with fresh cracklins. As I gratefully headed that way, I received a call back from her telling me to go to the new location instead. She stated that the owner (Ivy) was there and was going to replace them with fresh cracklins. Still grateful and excited to get some fresh tasty cracklins, I drove to the new location instead.

This is where my experience REALLY took a turn for the worse.
When I arrived, Ivy (the owner) was on the phone YELLING at someone. She turned to me and said she was dealing with a technical issue. She asked me what she could help me with and I explained that I had been a long time customer and love their establishment, but was not happy with the product I received today and that Angie told me to bring them back and ask for Ivy. She immediately got defensive and started yelling at me as well. She kept cackling and insisting that cracklins are supposed to be “hard”. I told her again that I had been a long time customer and had never had any from their establishment that were this old and hard. She didn’t even look at the cracklins in the bag, and abruptly ORDERED the lady behind the counter to give me a refund. The lady kindly told me that they were making a new batch and she offered me a sample to see if they were any better. I agreed to wait. I was still wanting to purchase some cracklins.

At this time, Ivy (who was still yelling at whoever was on the phone… and calling them unprofessional) asked me what I was still doing there. I explained that the other lady offered me a sample from the new batch and she again started yelling at me. I noticed that she kept looking at the camera behind the counter, and she told me that I was NOT going to get a sample and that I needed to leave.
Confused, I asked her why I needed to leave. I had not been rude or raised my voice or anything. She said she was the owner and had the right to refuse service to anyone she wanted, and demanded that I leave immediately. As I was leaving, I expressed to her that I have always been a source of positive advertisement for their business, but going forward, I would definitely take a different stance on supporting a business that the owner is downright rude (and abusive) to their employees and customers. She literally cackled and told me that she didn’t need my business.

I have left many positive reviews for Devillier Boudin in the past… but I will never give my money to someone who has such a nasty attitude towards the people who make their business successful.

I don’t know if she was just having a bad day and I just happened to be the brunt of her obvious frustrations or if she is always this way… but there is NEVER any reason a business owner should treat a customer like she did. To be honest, I wish I had been recording when I was in there, or had access to that camera behind the counter to show the world how NOT to treat customers.

Sadly, I will be finding a new place to get my Cajun cuisine fix… and will tell everyone I meet how horrible my experience was at Devillier Boudin.

I’m sorry but this place was not what I expected for that price. The cracklins taste like sugar. I have never experienced sugar cracklins before. I thought this place came from the boot. Not even close. The boud boudin balls were mid at best. Never will I ever

Super sweet people! From the owner on down. I live 35 mins away, and repeatedly make the drive out there because it’s the best boudin, cracklings, etc.. on this side of the Texas/Lousisna Border.

I actually just walked out, and was disheartened to hear how some woman, posted a super negative review because she didn’t like the consistency of the chicken cracklings. Wild, because that’s my favorite part . She went on a whole rant about how she paid $40 for 2 pounds of cracklings, as if someone forced her to buy them or like she couldn’t see them right there on the counter before she purchased them. The staff are too sweet, and the food is too good for that kinda review. Disregard that ladies review, and go check them out for yourself! You won’t regret it!

Just was not very good- cracklings were very fatty, not cooked enough. The crawfish pie – it’s really a rice pie was pretty bland.

Oh my goodness gracious me, let me tell you about the jalapeño, cream cheese boudin ball that has forever changed my life! It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth, a party for my taste buds, a symphony for my tongue! I felt like I was on a culinary adventure, a journey through the depths of flavor and texture.

As I took my first bite, the crunch of the outer layer gave way to the soft, creamy center that was filled with the spicy goodness of jalapeño and cream cheese. It was like a warm hug from an old friend, a comforting sensation that enveloped my entire being.

And let me not forget about the pepper jack and jalapeño boudin ball, which was equally as incredible. The spicy kick of the jalapeño mixed with the creamy goodness of the cheese was a match made in heaven. It was like a culinary masterpiece, a work of art that I will forever cherish.

I have to say, these boudin balls have changed my life. I can’t imagine going back to a world without them. They are a must-try for everyone, a culinary experience that cannot be missed. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you.

Stopped here today and got some chicken and pork cracklin. The pork wasn’t edible to hard, more like rocks! Thr chicken super crispy but way over seasoned. Was my 1st time here. I wouldn’t come out the way again.
