There aren’t many traditional French cooking restaurants left in Boston and Deuxave is our favorite. The menu changes slightly through the seasons but has the main staples throughout the year. The food is consistently well cooked and tastes great. We especially like the duck and foie gras dishes. We can always count on having a good meal here.

Not a big dessert person but really like their souffles when they’re baked properly although we have had some that were too soupy to eat. We like the tasting menus that add more variety to the main menu. Recently, the mocktails have been upscaled and improved in a good way with more interesting spices.

The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet so we can actually have conversations. The staff is friendly and efficient. We really enjoy our dining experiences here.

the food was pretty good, but i wasn’t blown away by anything. both duck dishes were decent, but i expect to be blown away by a duck dish from a high end french restaurant.
9-Hour French Onion Soup: this was also not as good as i expected. not a lot of cheese and it also wasn’t really melted either
Crispy Duck Confit: the duck was fine. the brussel sprouts were actually the best part of this dish, though
Duck Breast: this was really nothing special. it wasnt tender or anything and seemed a bit overcooked
Duet of Prime Beef: the steak tartare and parmesan chips were easily the best part of the meal. the carpaccio was okay

Lovely restaurant with great bar seating for dinner, nice wine selection and tasty french food. I think for me it’s a 4 1/2. Everything we ate was very good but I wasn’t wowed by anything either. I was really excited to try the duo of beef and the tartare was good but for me the carpaccio was overwhelmed by the anchovy sauce it was served with. The duck confit was tender and very flavorful. Same for the duck entree. We ordered the duck medium, and it was cooked as requested. The halibut entree was also tasty but i felt the fish was a touch over. We ordered the fries because apparently they are a must have. They were very good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Both desserts were tasty.

Boston’s favorite real estate broker here with another review. This place was incredible from start to finish. I was especially impressed with our waiter’s knowledge of the menu and overall friendly and social nature. As for the food it was out of this world. My wife got the french onion soup started, and me the wagyu tartar / steak carpaccio (forgot the exact name), both were amazing. She had the mushroom ravioli and said it was the best she has ever had. I had the duck breast entree and can say for certain it was by far the best piece of duck I have ever had. Highly recommend and call me if you want to buy a home in the area and then you can eat here whenever you like.

I took my Fiancé for her 30th birthday. This is our second time at Deuxave and has cemented it as my favorite restaurant of all time. Unbelievable food. Every plate is a work of art and portions aren’t too large or small. We will be back.

This is our favorite date night spot. The duck is unbelievable to the point I don’t order anything else.

We celebrated Valentine’s Day at Deuxave. The dinner was a multi course preset menu. We opted to include wine pairings. The restaurant is beautiful and atmosphere romantic. Food was variable. The oysters in the Canaveral course were old and tasted bad. The remainder of the food was good but not great. Service was the issue. Some courses were served before we finished the prior. The wine pairing was served erratically and not with the next course. The waiter didn’t know the name of the wine he just served when asked. Overall, not worth the price given food quality was not exceptional and neither was the service. We had a lovely time regardless and might try another time when it is not a special event evening, likely contributing to missed opportunities.

Deuxave delivers a polished, contemporary take on French fine dining, grounded in technique and presentation, and executed with consistency.

The kitchen demonstrates clear command of classical foundations while leaning modern in composition. Sauces are refined, proteins are properly cooked, and plates arrive visually composed without excess. Flavors are balanced and controlled, favoring elegance over drama. While the menu rarely surprises, it rarely falters; the experience is defined by competence and cohesion rather than risk-taking.

Service is professional and well-drilled. Pacing is smooth, explanations are measured, and the dining room operates with visible structure. At times, the service cadence can feel formal rather than fluid, but it reliably supports the meal and maintains the restaurant’s polished tone.

The room reinforces the experience. The space is handsome, comfortable, and clearly designed for occasion dining. Lighting and layout promote conversation, and the overall atmosphere feels composed and intentional—an asset for celebratory meals and business dinners alike.

Verdict:
Deuxave earns its four stars through technical proficiency and consistency. It may not redefine modern French dining, but it delivers a refined, dependable experience that rewards guests seeking elegance, structure, and quiet assurance.

Deuxave is an old favorite of mine – always an awesome time and fantastic food. The ambiance is elegant, the service is great and they have delightful cocktails and a pretty good wine list. All this combined makes for a consistently excellent experience.
I’d say that you cannot go wrong – whatever you decide to order. Some of dishes we had on this occasion were the lobster gnocchi, the seared foie gras, the duck liver pate, the octopus, the duet of prime beef, the duck breast – everything is perfectly executed and it is delicious. The desserts were lovely too, my favorite being the parfait au chocolate.
Whether it is a special occasion, an elegant date night or a random impromptu visit, Deuxave is always a great choice.
TIP: if you want a more intimate setting, ask for one of their booths.

I typically don’t leave reviews, but I felt really inclined to share my wonderful experience at Deuxave. My partner and I had reservations for my birthday. Upon arrival, the host was very respectful. We had the pleasure of being served by Leidy, who was very knowledgeable about the dishes and gave us fantastic wine and desert recommendations. The waitstaff was very attentive, and we had the pleasure of also being served by a gentleman who worked the section tonight (I feel bad I didn’t catch his name).

The food left us speechless, kudos to the chef and the rest of the back of the house staff for preparing a wonderful meal. We will definitely be returning soon!
