Reviews
We ordered: D1 (2 Classic and upgraded to Chili Cheese Fries) , a D2 (2 Plain add liquid Cheese and upgraded to Cheese Fries ), cheese fries, plain seasoned fries, and a slaw koney
got home with our food and opened everything up. This is where the disappointment happened. The single order of cheese fries had barely any cheese on them. It almost looked like they were running out and were trying to to squeeze what was left out. The order of seasoned fries didn’t have a speck of seasoning on them (actually none of the fries we had did as you can tell in the picture), and the plain hot dogs that I added the liquid cheese to didn’t have the cheese added (and I paid $3 extra to have this added), somehow the slaw koney ended up with cheese on it but it wasn’t ordered that way …. The consensus was that our food also lacked flavor/seasoning.
Unfortunately, no one was very impressed with their food this evening and felt like we could have eaten at home and made our own and saved the $60 we spent on the food.
From what I’ve read they are a fairly new business so maybe there are some things that need to be worked on as far as consistency in the kitchen and I hope they can so that they can succeed. I’m all for supporting small businesses. But for us, it’s not somewhere that we would be trying again. Just a disappointing meal.
As far as the lady that took our order, she was very nice and this review is not a reflection of the service. The atmosphere also has a lot of potential.
On top of the incredible food, the service is outstanding. Friendly, fast, and super attentive from start to finish. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and take pride in what they serve. It’s hard to find that now days especially in Paulding County.
We are regulars now of course. Highly recommend!
Pros: Customer service. We were greeted and seated immediately. The hostess and waitress were very sweet.
Opportunities: It’s a very cold day today (21 degrees). Something must have been wrong with their heat because it was extremely cold inside the restaurant. We drove over an hour to dine here so we dined in. We ordered 2 Detroit Classics and nachos. It took 30 mins to receive our order and when we did the food was not hot (there was only one other table with 2 ppl dining inside). In fact, the chilli on the fries and hot dogs was cold. We did inform the waitress and she offered to take it back to reheat but it was so cold in the restaurant and we had already waited over 30 mins for hot dogs and fries we declined. We ended up packing it to go and reheating when we got home. I really wanted to love this spot but unfortunately it was a disappointment. Although cold, the food wasn’t horrible it just taste nothing like any coney Island spots in Detroit. IYKYK
As someone who grew up in Detroit, I was genuinely excited to find this spot. I ordered the Coney Dogs with chili cheese fries. Everything was flavorful and well-made. My only disappointment was the hot dogs, I specifically asked the owner if they had that signature snap that any Detroit native knows and loves, and she assured me they did. Unfortunately, they didn’t quite deliver on that front. That said, the chili was on point and the chili cheese fries hit the spot.
One small thing won’t keep me away. I’ll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.
Will definitely be back.
It is great being able to have a taste of home within driving distance. The Coney’s are authentic, the chili is the real deal, and the corned beef is on point! Can’t wait to taste everything else on the menu.
So glad you have posted up here, you did your big thing Detroit Koney GA!
The restaurant was very clean, the prices are fair, and the staff and owner were incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can really feel the good vibes here. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others!
