At one in the afternoon, I’m the only person dining in.
Menu is on two 55″ flat screens, a third is playing South Asian music videos. The smells coming out of the kitchen have my mouth watering. The art on the walls is an eclectic mix of landscapes, kitchen/dining scenes & modern.
As always, deciding is the hardest part. I finally landed on a Tikka Masala wrap with fries & a can of pop. 10-15 minutes is the expected wait.
The wrap was so hot, I had to unwrap it in stages. Bodes well for takeout orders.
So, I focused on the fries, which were a bit overcooked.
The Tikka Masala is delicious! Nicely seasoned and with some spice kick to it, a blah February day kick-started very nicely.
I’d certainly return but I’d skip the fries.
I tried the food. The butter lamb is really sweet. The lamb is, you know, small cleaned up pieces. Where’s the bones and stuff? Where’s the big chunks that I’m used to? But like I said the sauce was like sugary.. that’s not legit. That’s Americanized, and if I wanted American food I would have went to an American restaurant.
The lamb and rice, dude it was just chunks of gyro meat. Then we tried the chili chicken, I think it’s called chili 63 or something like that I don’t know . . Too fricken sweet, dude, again what’s with the sweetness on stuff? I can taste the pineapple. I don’t want my spicy food to be sweet. I don’t like sweet and sour stuff. So, I don’t know. My first time trying it and definitely my last time. I think why it’s so popular, is because it’s like a fast food version of Indian food. It’s like if you went to McDonald’s for an Indian food special. Think – McRib vs actual barbecue ribs.
So yeah a lot of people who haven’t actually appreciated real Indian food would love this place. So I completely understand why it’s popular.
It’s just not for me.
This is my favorite place I have ever eaten. Specifically the New York Style Lamb and Chicken mix dinner. My fiance also loves this food!
