Detroit Crab House absolutely blew me away! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and lively, and the staff made us feel right at home. ***READ THE REVIEWS*** I am shocked that this place has such a high rating. We ordered a seafood boil. Hadn’t had one in a very long time, so we were really looking forward to it. I explained to the young lady upfront (who was friendly at first), many times what we wanted. First, we waited almost 30 min for the boil, which we didn’t mind because it’s a lot to cook. Second, because it took so long; we politely asked if we could dine in instead, to which she responded, “no no no” if you stay they will charge you gratuity. That wasn’t my concern or question. I did not get upset until I looked in the bag and noticed the sauce wasn’t sauce at all, it was water! as if nothing was drained prior to adding it to the bag. no butter, barely any seasoning! When you ask for “the works” you expect a heavily butter based sauce with tons of seasoning. I never complain about food, But this was ridiculous. I asked her why it was so watered down, and all she could do is make excuses. Finally, the owner came out and again tried to defend the situation, instead of making it right. When I asked for a refund, that’s when they both got super upset and started getting louder. The owner proceeded to say “call the police” and literally walked off! the front desk lady called me “so stupid” in-front of my 11 year old daughter. I’ve had many seafood boils from different restaurants, most of the time the sauce is primarily butter with seasoning, and very rich in color IF you ask for “all seasoning” or “the works” I could be wrong. Perhaps it was the end of the night and they were tired. There were only two people inside the store, the parking lot was empty. We left the food on the table and left! We will disputed with CC company. PS… if you do decide to eat there, please use a credit card so that you can dispute it if you have a bad experience. Like I mentioned, I prefer not to write reviews, especially for family owned businesses. You can tell by the way they respond to reviews, they lack class and customer service. They have zero intention to make their customers happy. But they absolutely crossed the line and people should know about it…

When we first pulled into the parking lot on a Saturday evening we were a little hesitant to go in since it looked empty. The place was open but there were hardly any customers. We decided to give this place a try and were pleasantly surprised. The food was great! We ordered egg drop soup, shrimp dumpling, lobster and shrimp fried rice, hibachi noodles and crab cakes and we loved it all! We will definitely come back for more to try the seafood boil next time! Per my little one this is her new favorite place now!
