This past Saturday March 1st 2025 I dined in at Detroit Breakfast for the 1st time. My parents had been there several times and have been raving about it, so I had to give it a try. Let me tell you they did not disappoint. I ordered Salmon Croquet and blueberry waffles which came highly recommended. First of all let’s start with the waitress Ms. Yolanda: her personality, warmth, and kindness was unmatched. I felt like I was sitting in my grandma’s kitchen. When my meal came out I asked for some butter, Ms. Yolanda said taste it first, so I did, say less no butter was needed. This blueberry waffle was so buttery, soft, light and fluffy with a slight crunch just like I like it. The blueberries were so fresh, I honestly didn’t need the syrup, but a little syrup never hurts. Lol. The Salmon Croquet OMG brown and crispy on the outside, soft, chewy, and seasoned to perfection on the inside. U can see and taste the fresh salmon, and the fresh veggies in the croquet. The clincher: I asked for some sauce to top off my salmon croquet, they normally don’t have any they serve. But then the chef Ms Nikki herself came out and asked me did I like the sauce that is normally used for fried green tomatoes I said girl yes stop playing. Sis went into that kitchen and came out with a homemade remoulade sauce for my Salmon Croquet and baaaaaaaabbbbbyyyyy it was amazing. I was impressed, chef was the sweetest, kindest, most humbling chef I’ve met. My entire experience was everything!!!!!!! She’s even going to put the sauce on the menu you’re welcome y’all. Lol. I even took a bite of mom’s catfish honey listen if y’all don’t run to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. Ms. Yolanda and Chef Nikki tell the crew we are coming back Saturday with our crew they have to taste this good food. Thank you for this experience. I feel like family now. And I’m hungry.

I haven’t been to this restaurant, my son was there and was appalled at what was on the menu. I couldn’t believe it was true. It turned out it was. Apparently the owner is very racist, being what was on his menu regarding “enemies”. If you are interested in checking this out have a look at the menu. I have to believe if this were a Caucasian owned business with a message like that about African American people, it would have been burned to the ground. Why is this place allowed to be in business?

My absolute very favorite .
The food is so good you cant go wrong with what you order. All breakfast items such as Grits are awesome, pancake are fluffy and light, anything you purchase is great even the prices. This restaurant is very clean. I am always inviting and telling family and friends about this restaurant. I always try to give support to the Black owned and operated businesses. As long as they are fair, respectful and a reasonable establishment.

On May 9th, 2025, I’ve visited this rest for the first time. I ordered chicken wings, toast and a side of grits. I asked for sugar for my grits and the cook and the server woman informed me that I didn’t need it. I went home and ate it, and those were the best grits that I’ve ever had WITHOUT sugar lol. The very next day, i went in to get a vegetable omelet with hash browns. Just as delicious! Those ladies are super nice and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good bite to eat. Not to mention that everything is cooked to order as well!

This food is just what the family ordered. Down home style cooking!! I had 1 waffle and shrimp and grits w/ cheese. The waffle is a great balance of fluffy and crispy. The shrimp and grits are delicious just not as thick as I’m used to. I will definitely be back for another go round. This place is a must try!!

The food wasn’t good. I ordered the salmon croquettes breakfast. It took like 45 minutes to come out, and me and my friend were the only ones in the restaurant.10-15 minutes for coffee and water. The employees are very rude and disrespectful. When we asked for more coffee the old lady was rolling her eyes and smacking her lips. The old lady waitress, and the the old man that’s the cook will stand there and stare at you talking about you while you eat. The prices are too high for the portions. I wish I never have this place a chance. Everytime I ride pass now I shake my head. I don’t even know how this place is still open.

This by far is the best brunch spot in Detroit. I’ve gotten the croquets two days in a row. Baby that baldie baddie cook, put her entire heart into my meal today. I drove all the way from Toledo just to try again 10/10

King Lemonade really wanted to try this place. So we ordered for lunch, it was not what we expected. I ordered a fish and chip meal. The fries were… a texture that’s hard to explain. They were dry, but it didn’t taste like a potato, so I sat that to the side and ate the fish. It was ok. King Lemonade had a breakfast, and he said it was good.

I was skeptical about trying this place due to my recent new places I’ve visited have been less than pleasant. But BAAABBBY….the veggie omelet is very tasty and flavorful. The space is open and inviting. The service is good be patient it’s only one person serving tables. The prices are kinda high for breakfast though.
