Desposito’s began as Walton’s Seafood, a humble market that catered to locals and Tybee Island visitors. The Thunderbolt property was purchased in the 1960’s by Italian dockworker Carlos Desposito. After his passing in 1982, wife Walton and stepson David Boone took over the operation to keep Desposito’s dream for casual, delicious local seafood alive. After extensive renovations and the addition of a large river view bar lead by Michelle Smith, managing partner, Desposito’s legacy continues today. It’s still a favorite where friends and family gather for good times, great company, and the freshest seafood around.

The place it’s located at the very good spot. The staff don’t know very well about liquors on inventory. The food it was oversalty. The salad base on the appetizer it was dried and non fresh. The waitress it was absent for long moments from the scene and nobody was in attention to the needs of the patrons. I went because the good reviews on Google and even a mention in a book at the hotel but the perception of the attention. And the overall food it was a bad experience.

Shrimp salad sandwich was primarily bread and lettuce and had no flavor. Side of succotash also very little flavor. Shrimp tacos good but not great. Staff friendly and atmosphere clean and quaint.

Outstanding! What more could you want on a beautiful Mid 70° Sunday. So glad that they reopened newly printed menus great food as usual, and excellent drinks For reasonable prices (Which is hard to find these days).
I read in past reviews. Glad to try it myself and make my own decision.
Happy to be here and happy to be back at Desposito’s. Will make a return visit!

I would give this restaurant a solid 9 out of 10. The overall experience was very enjoyable — the service, in particular, was attentive, thoughtful, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. The only small critique I have is that the seasoning on the crab was a bit overpowering. I would have loved to taste more of the natural crab meat flavor, but the spices were a little too heavy-handed. Still, everything else was excellent, and we would gladly return whenever we have the chance.

Stopped by for lunch. Started with their old bay chips, chips were good and crunchy, spice was overpowering. I ordered the fried oyster plate with Mac and cheese. Everything was really good got more oysters than advertised on the menu. Oysters were fried nicely and still juicy on the inside. The Mac and cheese side was awesome . The wife ordered the fried fish basket and the fillet was really big and cooked perfectly. She also got the Mac and cheese.

The only issues we had was with our server. This guy needs to find a job soon else. We got a couple of beers which came in cans. The can lids were dirty. He didn’t ask if we wanted a glass, so I had to find another way employee to get glasses. The glasses were filthy. So after they cleaned them I went to have a drink. After we finished our meal we sat around waiting for the server to return which he did not. I found him at the front of the house sitting on the waiting couch hitting his vape and surfing his phone. Servers can make or break a place.

My time at Desposito’s Seafood was amazing! They have helped the organization that I serve on Shelter From The Rain a few times whenever we’ve had a fundraiser or simply for their support. Tonight we had a bingo night, where Desposito’s generously allowed us to use their outdoor bar area. The atmosphere was amazing along with the weather! The food was also delicious. I ordered their crispy chicken sandwich and a side of fries. I can’t wait to eat there again!

We were looking for a low-key, off-the-beaten-path option for fresh seafood between Tybee Island and Savannah, and Desposito’s hit the mark! Very unpretentious. No long list of oyster options to choose from (you get what you get), no hint of fanciness — just good food. Recommend the lobster mac and cheese.

4.5 Stars for the total experience. We had great service and a great view of the water. The smoked fish dip was good, but not very fish forward. If you like the taste of fish, it might not be what you expect. The shrimp boil was good with the shrimp and Conecuh making the dish. Family enjoyed the shrimp tacos and fried shrimp.

Desposito’s Seafood continues to be one of my absolute favorite spots in Savannah.

Incredibly fresh seafood, generous portions, great prices, and that great view right by the water. The shrimp tacos, fried shrimp, and lobster mac are always perfect, and the staff here consistently treats you like family.

I’m also genuinely thrilled that the trashy, cheap, plastic-tasting chicken and cheese egg rolls have been taken off the menu. The people who are mad they’re gone are the same ones who wear their “nice Sunday jeans” to Applebee’s after church. Their removal makes the entire menu feel cleaner, higher-quality, and more in line with the amazing seafood Desposito’s is known for.

If you want honest Lowcountry seafood done right, this is the place. Highly recommend.

I forgot to take photos because our food was soo amazing!

A most enjoyable experience in all areas. Our host and waut staff were perfect. The option of semi outdoor seating or indoors was nice . Super clean quaint out of the way restaurant was worth the trip. My partners fish basket with fries was delicious and fresh. My She crab soup was not exactly the low country style you’d normally expect. Albeit I would highly recommend this take on a classic. My shrimp scampi was fresh and ample. Portions and price were appropriate. Btw… the history of this place is interesting.
I took a little time to write this review because I encourage you to pin this as a detour for a great family owned restaurant.
