Back when I was in college in Michigan there was a local Indian restaurant called Cumin. I’d have the curry there at least twice a week as my comfort food before exams and when I was feeling down. Since the mid 2010’s the chef in Michigan has changed and I’ve never been able to recapture that flavor until now. Desi’s has the exact same taste as Cumin has in my college memories. Without getting too sappy in a google review I’d just like to say how incredibly happy it made me.
The chicken curry is outstanding, the chicken quality was fantastic, and the rice and naan were cooked exactly how you’d want it.
11/10, I’ll be back again before I leave tomorrow.

This is not a restaurant per say. It is in a food court, gyros next door, Korean Mex tacos and other foods. So when you get your food you are sitting in a common courtyard.
So now to Desi’s, the food is outstanding. The cook is from India and the food is cooked to order. Nothing that I saw was prepared in advance. The quality and quantity were very good. There is a Japanese lady taking your order who is very pleasant and helpful. A surfer
Highly recommend this for a casual lunch or dinner.
I have removed the pictures as requested. Please note that not only did I ask to take your pictures, you both posed for them and I further told you I was going to post them on Google maps. This was done with your full permission.

Visited this place on a whim after boyfriend researched the restaurant for a light meal. It’s supposedly a new food court near an alleyway, and if we didn’t see the restaurant name flags atop the building, we would not have known, passing by. And boy, did the curries surprise us (and stuff us)! He had the lentil curry and I had the mayor’s vegetable curry – flavor bombs from each dish! My favorite has to be the vegetable curry though, as I love creamy tomato curries. The garlic basil butter naan was fluffy and crispy, perfect with our curries, and the usual basmati rice was good. The only thing that needs improvement is the mango lassi that I ordered. Great mango taste but it was luke warm. Needs ice to be served with it. Service was fast and friendly, food was presented well, and there wasn’t many people during our time there, so lots of seating to choose from. There are other food establishments to try, so happy eating!

Great place to grab affordable, freshly cooked Indian cuisine in Waikiki. I encourage everyone to check out this amazing business as the chef will prepare everything in front of you within a few minutes. Wish he had more Google reviews as I’m sure this place would be very popular with some more exposure!

The food is very fresh and flavorful! My new favorite lunch spot for sure (: It’s a hidden gem in Waikiki. Located in Royal Hawaiian dining plaza near shoreline hotel.

Easy 5 stars all day, best Indian food on island. And the best place to eat in Waikiki. Usually to get excellent food in Honolulu you need to leave Waikiki but this place is right in the middle and very well priced. They have a full vegan menu too. You can tell the chef really knows how to cook and loves cooking. Even though it’s a small simple and humble shop it’s beats any other restaurant on island. It’s rare to find a restaurant where the chef is passionate and knows what he is doing. Always kind staff and I repeatedly come back. I grew up in NYC so I strongly believe I know when food is actually good. I had usually get the Chana masala and coconut vegetable korma. Both are on point!

Went there over the weekend and the staff was accommodating as we reached there at 815pm, while their closing time was 830pm.
The food was good, but the quantity was less for the price we paid I feel. The naan were really ice and soft. Mango lassi was too watery and did not feel like lassi at all.
Good place to have indian food quickly, right near the main street in Waikiki.

AH! What a hidden gem this place is. The food is spectacular and fresh – Ash (the cook) makes everything right there. I asked for a chicken biryani to be made a little spicy, and he delivered! The rice was moist and the chicken was soft. So flavorful….definitely the best Indian food I have had to eat on the island! Will be coming back for sure, can’t wait to try everything else on the menu!
