I have been a regular customer for about 8 months, eating at this restaurant multiple times a week. During this time, I have often praised the food, shared positive feedback, and even complimented the cook and owner. I have told them more than once that the food reminds me of my grandmother’s cooking, which is very meaningful to me, especially since she has passed away. When the restaurant was under renovation, I also complimented the changes and offered suggestions respectfully.

Because of that history, what happened on Jan 30 around 12:00 noon was especially shocking and hurtful.

I ordered podi idli and started eating immediately after it was served. I politely mentioned that the idli was not warm. Instead of addressing the feedback professionally, the staff member responded aggressively and loudly, insisting that podi idli will not be hot and repeatedly saying that he “can’t help” (happened multiple times) if the food is not warm.

I have never heard that idli in a South Indian restaurant is not expected to be hot or freshly served. Customers come to a restaurant and pay money expecting hot food, not lukewarm food. Asking for warm food is not unreasonable and is certainly not a personal attack.

The staff member then:
• Raised his voice and yelled at me,
• Accused me of “always complaining,”
• Made irrelevant remarks about my previous menu choices,
• Made unacceptable comments about me working while eating, which is completely irrelevant and none of his concern,
• And finally snatched the plate from me and told me he can’t help and can leave the restaurant and told he can’t help if Idly is not warm and wanted his statements to be backed by cook . All I care about is what is served on the plate. Anyways I used to let it go if he didn’t yell at me or was aggressive.

I remained calm throughout and repeatedly said there was no need to yell and that we could speak respectfully. Despite this, the staff member continued shouting and behaved in a highly unprofessional and disrespectful manner.

I am a paying customer, not a beggar, and I do not deserve to be told to “eat whatever is served” or treated with anger. Feedback about food should never be met with yelling or humiliation especially toward a loyal customer who has consistently supported the restaurant.

I respectfully request the owner to review CCTV footage around 12:00 noon on Jan 30 2026. Good food alone is not enough basic courtesy, emotional control, and respect for customers are essential in the service industry.

Sadly, after this experience, I will not be returning.

The idli and chutney were stale. Chutney was watered down and the had a very bad foul after taste. Disappointed since last couple of times, it used to be good before.

We ordered Paper Dosa, Gobi Manchurian, and Dahi Vada. The Dosa and Manchurian were good. However, the Dahi Vada didn’t seem very fresh and tasted slightly stale. It was also a bit different from what we had expected in terms of preparation.
(A small suggestion, it might be helpful to mention the specific style of Dahi Vada on the menu to avoid any confusion.)

We recently ordered both breakfast and lunch from this restaurant for our engagement ceremony, and everything was absolutely perfect! The food was incredibly delicious, flavorful, and so authentic — every guest loved it. The presentation, quality, and freshness really stood out. Thank you for making our special day even more memorable. Highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing food and great service!

I visited Desilicious Cafe hoping for quality South Indian snacks and tea, but unfortunately left disappointed with the food.
The Good:
The space itself is quiet and spacious, which creates a comfortable atmosphere for dining. There’s plenty of room, and it’s not overly crowded.
The Not-So-Good:
The food quality was the main letdown. For about $30 spent on snacks and tea, I expected much better. The snacks lacked freshness and flavor that you’d hope for from a South Indian cafe. The tea was also underwhelming.
Service was acceptable but nothing exceptional – staff were present but not particularly attentive or welcoming.
Overall:
While the ambiance is nice, a restaurant ultimately needs to deliver on food quality. I hope the management takes feedback seriously and works on improving their recipes and ingredient freshness. There’s potential here with the good location and space, but the execution needs work.
I may give them another try in the future if I hear things have improved, but for now, I can’t strongly recommend based on this experience.

The idli was delicious, and the dosa was also very good. Filter coffee & chai were ok. The chutneys were very good with both the idli and dosa. I loved that everything was served hot & fresh. Customer service was also 10/10. Would come back 🙂

The ambience may not be the best, but the food is fantastic. My father was the pickiest of eaters and this was his favorite place to go for authentic South Indian food. Now my mom just wants to try every type of idli.
