Desi Galli is one of those rare spots in New York that instantly transports you. Best Indian food in NYC!!!!!!
The service is quick, warm, and delightfully unpretentious exactly what you want from a casual spot that knows its food speaks for itself.
The Kathi rolls are an absolute standout: tender, flavorful, perfectly spiced, and wrapped in soft paratha that melts in your mouth. The pani puri is crisp and bright, with tangy water that hits all the right notes. And the chicken tikka sliders are a must-try a playful twist that still honors classic flavors.

In a city overflowing with food options, Desi Galli manages to feel special — a spot you find yourself returning to again and again. For anyone craving authentic Indian street food with a modern touch, this place is an absolute gem.

Desi Galli

The Chicken Tikka Masala here tastes very much like classic Bombay-style Butter Chicken, made with proper tandoori chicken pieces—rich, flavourful, and absolutely excellent. The taste is outstanding, which is why I am visiting for the 4th time.

Chilli Chicken is amazing—perfectly cooked with a great spice balance.
Samosa was okay.
Tea was not fresh and can definitely be improved.

Special mention to Asmita, the cashier-cum-waiter—she is very polite, talks nicely, and serves everyone with a warm smile. Her attitude really adds to the dining experience.

Overall, very good food and service. Highly recommended for desi flavours

The dal is divine ! Absolutely delicious and well made. I should know- am a Desi myself. The chai is fab and their chaat options are perfect. Service is really lovely! And such a nice and cosy vibe. It’s the perfect place to have afternoon chai and chat with your friends and loves ones.

One of my favorite spots in NY. As a desi food lover this checks every box. Tons of Veg options.

Pani puri is fire!

Also restock a bunch of groceries & spices for home. Super convenient!

This is a place I’ll definitely be coming back to! I had the gluten-free kati roll and it tasted just like regular paratha, which is rare and amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and made sure my food was safe to eat given my allergy. So grateful to have found this spot!

Excellent service!!! Place is bigger than it looks from the outside, as there is a nice, moody dining area past the entrance down some stairs. Also very filling food with appropriate portions. They gave me a lil cheesecake on the house so how could I not give me 5 stars hehehehe

Stopped by for a quick snack. Chai is okay, not my favorite but the rolls were amazing. Got the paneer roll with their protein based wrap. Amazing!

The best Katie Roll in NYC!! They offer a protein paratha option too, which is awesome! I ate their Alu and Paneer Kati Roll, it was a burst of flavor with the perfect blend of spices!

I have eaten Kati rolls at many places in NYC, like the Kati Roll Co. and Masala Times and trust me when I say this, Desi Galli beats them all!

Asmita at the register was extremely kind and welcoming and Raj the chef is a rockstar at what he does

Stop by Desi Galli, your taste buds will thank you, I promise

PROs – good Kathi rolls , good location
CONs – taste in some items , a little expensive combos

Desi galli has been around for a longgggg time . Their Kathi rolls are very famous and fills up your stomach . Very good location .. right on heart of Lexington Avenue where all other restaurants are . No parking available . Good for visitors who walk around in Lex ave . There was some road work going on . It was very dusty outside and we could hardly see the shop . Inside the shop, there are no seats when you enter : I thought it was To-Go only but they said there are seats at the basement . Nice seating arrangement inside . Few seats but it looked comfortable .

Went inside looking at Maggie samosa menu outside . It was very average . Maggie wasn’t tasty inside the samosa.. it was quite bland and no spice or salt . .. chutneys were good though. Would not recommend Maggi samosa . I loved their aloo paneer tikki kathi roll … for 8$ it was worth it . I actually just got a roll and samosa and the lady in counter said it’s better to get the same as a combo. I believed her and it looked like I paid more on a combo – which was about 15$.. Kathi roll plus samosa was 12$ !! I got confused when she offered the combo offer but it was just to get charged more . I still recommend their Kathi rolls . Really good . I think for 18-20$ it was expensive ! In other places around you will get a big fat meal for the same money ! 3 stars ! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
