Desi Contemporary Indian Casual is a modern casual Indian restaurant in Bay Area Indian Street food with global influences. Our flavors are firmly rooted in Indian food and the Indian cuisine, with influences from around the world, resulting in adventurous, delicious dishes. We believe that the world’s cuisines are more similar than different, and celebrate how various signature dishes, worlds apart, have striking similarities. We started in December 2019 in San Jose, California. Our restaurant in Downtown Campbell is near Pruneyard restaurants close to San Jose, California. Our craft cocktail program at Gabru Bar is designed to compliment your mood, offering a variety of delicious options to pair with how you’re feeling.

This place has some really good Indian food with modern plating style. The food tastes really good. The place was clean but very dim lights at night.
The service here was not what was expected with food coming out very late and nobody to listen to the customers.
The pricing is a little on the higher side compared to the quantity that they serve.
The food was good, so I would recommend visiting this restaurant.

I had the most incredible dining experience at Desi. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor was tastefully done, creating a cozy and elegant ambiance.
But the real highlight was the food. Every dish we ordered was a masterpiece. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. I particularly loved the Paneer Bowl; it was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted, and I can’t stop thinking about it.
The service was outstanding as well. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the cuisine. They made excellent recommendations and ensured that we had a memorable evening.
I also appreciate the attention to detail in the restaurant’s commitment to sustainability and sourcing local ingredients. It’s evident that they care about the quality of their food and the impact on the environment.

I came here for the first time to try more contemporary Indian food. There was a good selection of foods that were presented very nicely. We sat at the bar so not sure how table service is. The food was good, the bar staff were nice and the whole place very clean, even the restrooms were particularly well kept.
I like to see that we have now some choice for Indian food as that’s been lacking in the area. I did like the contemporary twist on items but would have also like some regular fair as well.
They had some good drinks too and bar seem to be quite well stocked.
Update: I came back for brunch one Sunday. It was not busy when we got seated and served. It did not feel as welcoming as my last visit, especially since it was slow. I had to ask for the Sunday special menu which we were not given – but I had seen on their website. We ordered food and beer. The food was very well presented but it just tasted very mediocre. The chicken was soft, and not very flavorful. Deconstructed samosa was good albeit a little pricey. The fries were good … overall the food as regards taste was very average.
The actual restaurant is very nice otherwise. I think a better time to come would be evening when it busier. I’d give the evening visit, especially the bar area at least 4/5 but the brunch more like a 2/5 when I had visited.

Incredible place! I went here with my partner and we loved the incredible care that the staff put into making our experience better and it felt like we had almost TOO MUCH food which was great and I loved the chalupa tacos with the great naan and fillings and the milkshake was great. The mango dessert at the end was quite unique with the vermicelli and fish eggs as well. I also had the seasonal sea bass which was pretty unique with the coconut curry and overall I was so full at the end.

The decor of this place successfully reflects its cuisine. The pepper chicken was unnecessarily spicy, and could have been toned down, and the samosa chaat was bland. The lava cake with its chocolaty middle was perfect! Service was very quick, and the servers were attentive,and helpful.

The food was so good. They have a wide variety of veg options. All the items we ordered were delicious. Rashi was our server and she had some good recommendations for us. Good customer service. Impossible curry is must try. We just loved it!!

We went there very late on a Saturday and hoped the food would be good. It was excellent. Loved the decor of the place. Modern with a hint of indianness!
Had golgappas, blackened chicken Tikka plate, dal makhni plate and chicken kathi kabab
They were all yum and were made to be relished. The plates were a good size and so was the kathi kabab roll. Overall, loved it and would definitely go back to try the other dishes.

Poor Service. Main course was decent. Dessert and tea was good. When we first entered the waiter didn’t even bother to ask if we wanted dine in or take to go. Usually in a dine in we pay after eating. I was planning to take to go also. I was just having my tea and there the waiter appeared with the bill. After that we didn’t feel like ordering further. 2 stars for only dessert and tea.
