The restaurant listed two separate options for chicken mandi: “Juicy Chicken Mandi” and “Chicken Fry Piece Mandi.” However, what they actually served was the same thing for both. Instead of preparing authentic juicy mandi chicken — which is normally boiled or slow-cooked with spices and steamed in the mandi gravy — they simply used a deep-fried chicken piece and covered it with gravy to call it “juicy mandi.” That is not how real juicy mandi is prepared.
The chicken itself tasted bitter, likely because it was overcooked, and the attempt to make it “spicy” was honestly quite strange. Rather than properly blending Indian spices or masala into the dish, they just added chilli flakes on top of the chicken, extra green chilies, chilli powder in the gravy, and an excessive amount of cloves in the rice to force a spicy taste on the tongue. It felt careless and poorly executed.
The Buy 1 Get 1 offer also felt misleading. The total quantity for both items combined was basically equal to just one normal order, not two. It seemed more like a marketing decoy than an actual offer.
To make matters worse, the order arrived without any proper sides — no salan gravy, no onions, and no lemon wedges, which are normally standard accompaniments for mandi. Instead, we only received two tiny mayo-dip sized sauces for four plates of mandi (since it was buy one get one).
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. If a restaurant is running a kitchen, customers expect at least a basic understanding of how the dish should actually be cooked. Unfortunately, this felt more like an attempt to cut corners and fool customers with offers rather than serve authentic food. Lastly, the food color that was in the gravy would definitely frustrate you, you’d still see that on your hand after the handwash, imagine what it would do to your gut health.
I would recommend to pass on this one, skipping this place and choosing another restaurant if you’re looking for proper, authentic Indian mandi, probably HASHTAG!
The food is good, and what stands out most is the impressive variety on offer. Whether you’re in the mood for something savory, sweet, light, or hearty, there’s a solid range of choices that should satisfy different tastes and cravings without feeling limited or repetitive.
I was especially impressed by the bakery section—the pastries, breads, and other baked goods looked (and tasted) remarkably fresh, with that appealing just-out-of-the-oven quality you hope for but don’t always get.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience from start to finish. Friendly vibe, quality ingredients, and thoughtful options all come together to make it a place worth returning to. Definitely recommending it to anyone nearby!
A friend and I decided to try this spot after seeing it open recently. When we walked in, there was a gentleman ahead of us trying to place an order, but it was clear he was having a hard time communicating. Unfortunately, the cashier didn’t offer much help, which set a slightly uncomfortable tone right from the start.
I had read mixed reviews beforehand, but still wanted to give them a fair chance.
We ordered a few items: my friend got the naan, and I tried the idli. Visually, the food looked okay, but taste and freshness were another story. The sambhar was overwhelmingly spicy and lacked the flavor of something freshly mad it tasted like it had been sitting too long. The idlis came three to a serving, but they were clearly microwaved and didn’t have the soft, fluffy texture they’re known for. The chutney also had an off taste that was hard to overlook.
We were also recommended the Irani chai, but unfortunately, that too missed the mark. It had an odd taste, and when I asked, I was told they used condensed milk instead of fresh whole milk. While I appreciated the new cashier’s honesty in explaining this, I personally wouldn’t recommend the chai based on that experience.
The only part of the meal that was somewhat enjoyable was the buttered naan it was warm and had decent flavor.
A small suggestion for improvement:
If the kitchen is using pre-made or frozen items, it may be worth focusing on consistent reheating techniques and ensuring flavors are balanced. Also, more attentive customer service at the counter would go a long way in making guests feel welcome especially first-timers.
Honestly, if you’re shopping at Desi Brothers, I’d recommend grabbing one of the frozen meals and heating it up at home you’ll probably have a better experience and leftovers too.

I started ordering here since this one’s close, but you are better off ordering or going to the one in Leander.
First the lady on the register doesnt know how to speak to customers very rude and unprofessional I have not seen anyone like her in all the restaurants i have been to in my life
I have not seen anyone who is too lazy to know what items are in their restaurant – She said there is no paneer in the kitchen and gave paneer curry as side in mandi either you served us day back food or what should I think
we have seen some offers in the menu like Buy one get one free mandi and ordered it -she mentioned they are going to add both the plates into one take out bowl said okay -But the quantity is worst even one plate gets more quantity here in Dallas at any indian restaurant
Ordered Noodles first he put lot of salt in it -took it back and altered it again with no salt
one star for your take away boxes –
first try to get a chef who knows cooking bare minimum can understand everything but salt is main ingredient if he doesnt know how much to be added to the dish
The cashier asked for my spice levels and I said ‘Of course, make it spicy for your Indian pal” and man, it was spicy alright.
My recommendation is to try medium on your first visit and then maybe ask for spicy or extra spicy if it suits your palate. Either way, the flavours were on the right notes – tender / bite size pieces of meat in the curry and it was super hot, just the way I like it. As for the garlic naan, it was also pretty good too and the usual big portions you see here compared to some places back in India. I was super hungry and did not take any pictures this time aroun but I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I’ll visit again for other dishes in the menu!
If I must be critical, I don’t support the concept of take away style/ disposable plates & cutlery for dine-in orders. I can understand why the restaurant made their choices in the region but it’s just bad for the environment IMHO
I brought my daughters here right after school for a snack, and we had a great time. The atmosphere was calm and clean, and our order came out quickly.
We especially appreciated the excellent customer service,it was so friendly and welcoming. Saritha was particularly helpful. she went above and beyond to make a recommendation that my girls absolutely loved.
Even your Irani Chai can get messed up here but if ordering with Neeraj Bhai or his team, they take care of the perfect ratio of condensed milk to tea.. so I make sure I only order when they are around
The rava dosa, Benne dosa, pani puri, chole puri, pav bhaji, veg fried rice are awesome.. the chats tends to get very spicy always so make sure you inform them of your spice level requirements while ordering.
