I went without expecting anything and returned home happy. It was an excellent experience in a simply wonderful place, full of
history, with a pleasant atmosphere, excellent food, and the best host. Thank you, Joseph, for this wonderful day you gave us… you and your team did an incredible job. We’ll be back soon.

My husband and I stopped in on our way home. The food was amazingly tasty and fresh. My husband got a micro brew beer, and loved it. The staff were attentive and nice. The atmosphere was really cool. AND I was aloud to bring my dog inside! All that being said definitely check this place out. And will for sure be returning!!!

I stopped in yesterday for lunch and everything was great. My table had a lovely view of the creek, and the staff was super welcoming. The server even found me an outlet for my laptop since I was working while having lunch! Food and drinks came out quickly and at the perfect temperature. My chicken cheesesteak and fries were awesome as usual, and I took home a growler of their very tasty wee heavy, Alba Gu Brath. Of course, I will be back.

Lovely place. Great selection of draft brews, bottle beers and huge srlection of whiskeys. Food choices are traditional pub grub but tasty. Nice desserts. Home made caramel brownue was huge. Ambience bit run down but overall nice. Views of local stream at some tables. Will return.

This place was such a great fine. It has an unusual name so a few of our guests had trouble finding it on Maps. All the same, the place has charm and important, a wonderful beer selection. I will say the beer lines are maintained, no musty smell from poorly maintained tap lines, so important for us beer people. The food was very good, and the Pretzel really kicked up our need for more food! The place has a nice crowd and a good vibe from the staff, making you feel welcome, quite unusual in 2026. A soild choice for any event and even for stopping by for a pint!

Set in a charming Victorian building known as the Old Ship Inn, Descendants Brewing Co. is New Jersey’s first craft brewpub since Prohibition. Housed inside a ship‑and‑old‑English–themed interior, the space feels like a cozy tavern with history and character—complete with plenty of seating and free street parking.

Our favorite beer, Exit the Dragon, part of their Hidden Station series, is a standout: a 6.7% ABV old‑style Welsh red ale infused with smoke and clove to honor Wales’ legendary red dragon. It’s a thoughtful, flavorful nod to tradition with a creative twist—definitely a highlight on the tap list.

The food hit the mark too! The chicken cheesesteak with fries was super satisfying, and a perfect companion to a full pour or flight. Speaking of flights, they offer not only house beers, but an impressive lineup of global and domestic craft beers.

Where Descendants really flexes though is their bar shelves. With over 300 whiskeys and curated whiskey flights, plus a rotating collection of rare bottles. It’s clear this is more than a beer destination. Andrew can’t wait to come back to sample some whiskey.

This was our third time here. First time many years ago it was great, though I think it was still The Ship Inn at that time. Last time we went a couple years ago I had the fish and chips and the fish wasn’t cooked enough and inedible. We hadn’t been back since because of that experience, and only recently returned because of the Hunterdon Beer Trail passport.

Tried the fish and chips again and the fish was good this time (though a small piece), but the fries were lukewarm at best. My lemonade tasted very watered down as well. My husband’s prime rib sandwich was “ok”. Au jus was served in a small plastic, disposable container on the plate – a small ramekin would be a nice, easy touch to elevate it. He tried one of Descendent’s beer and said it was ok, but preferred the imported English beer he tried.

Was hoping our last visit was a fluke, but unfortunately this recent visit reaffirmed we won’t be going back again unless part of the beer trail in future years and if that’s the case, we’ll likely just stop in for a drink or two.
