This place is not much to look out from the outside, but it has amazing Thai food, especially considering it’s location!! It has a lot of vegetarian options, and We have never been disappointed with the dishes. We often get takeout, as The dine-in experience is OK but nothing to brag about.

I haven’t eaten in the restaurant because we usually take out so I can’t comment on the atmosphere or staff, but there’s always a few tables with folks.
The food is pretty good. There aren’t many (if any) other Thai places up here so you don’t really have a choice if you want to eat out and have Asian food (Golden Stix is the only other place I know of). I usually get the chicken panang curry. It always has an interesting assortment of veggies in it, including (I think) potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers. It’s a little cloying but not too bad. I usually order medium at other restaurants, and while I’ve never been asked for a ‘spice level’ (I’m not sure they have one), I would rate their panang a solid 6. Enough spice to be a medium, but a good burn that builds as you eat.
Last time we went we also had their cheese wontons, but a few were undercooked. Kind of a bummer!
Their take out service is fast, though. Last time I ordered two panang curries and that side of wontons, and it was ready for pickup in 10 minutes. Whether that’s because they weren’t busy or they’re that fast, I can’t say.

For unexpected Thai food in the mountains its hard to beat Derrick’s! Good portions, well made. Some items are not always stocked but it’s understandable given the location.

I’m recently moved to the area from Idaho Springs and tried this place. The food is very good, however every time I have eaten there someone either calls in about an error for an order or they are literally running out the door because of something they forgot. Got take out for the first time tonight and got the dish I normally get and asked for no peppers. I drive 20 minutes home and open my little white box and it’s 90% peppers. He even repeated it back on the phone. It upset be enough that they will not get anymore of my business I will stop at the lil burger joint next door from now on. The 16 year olds there have never gotten my order wrong.

Fresh, great portions. For appetizers enjoyed spring rolls, and potstickers, both were great! Tried sesame chicken, chicken curry and thai basil shrimp….all yummy! Hope you like a little kick of spice! Must get THAI TEA!

Friendly, good proportions the guy who helped us when we were there made us orange chicken even though it was not on the menu and gave my 4yr old some special veggies not on the menu becuase she was telling him how much she liked veggies.

Pretty good for small shop. Had the Royal ckn and veg Chou mein, good portion size, fast service, friendly, and did I say fast. Food was good Chinese. I recommend it. One of our favorite now.

Found a roach in my food. The lady told me it must have been from the shipping comany. I wasn’t going to write a review but when I saw that someone else had one too I thought I’d write one. They really need to address this problem before there is no more Derrick Thai.
