Came for a birthday dinner. Left disappointed. Love the ambiance. Delicious drinks, especially Lucky #7. We got sushi and the steak. Both excellent. Rice tots were inedible. They removed that from our bill though. The big disappointment was service. Our server took forever to check on us. I wanted a second drink and my daughter wanted more tea. It took him 40 minutes to come to our table. When I finally got my drink, he slammed it on the table – I wish I was exaggerating – mumbled something and walked off in a rush. It was another -5 minutes for my daughter’s tea. When he brought our next dish, same thing! Spammed it on the table and walked off. It was really odd. Finally, we waited for an hour after finishing our dinner for our server to return. I had hoped for dessert but by the time he came, it was 10pm (started at 745)and I was ready for bed. Not the best ending to my birthday meal but not a huge deal. I did communicate with him that I had hoped for dessert but it was getting late and he offered dessert to go – however, i declined, as I was worried it might take another 30 minutes. He did seem to genuinely feel bad and help the matter – but I just wish he didn’t make us feel so weird and ignored the rest of the meal.

A truly classy, upscale bar downtown that offers a wonderfully diverse selection spirits and cuisine! It’s definitely the place to be for a sophisticated evening. The staff there are incredibly knowledgeable and always attentive to your needs. I felt so well taken care of during my visit. You absolutely must check it out if you’re in the city. As a bonus they have great views of pioneer square from their rooftop patio.

Everyone was very friendly. We were staying at the Nines for Valentine’s Day and stopped in for a cocktail before dinner. We were hoping to sit at the bar but there weren’t two seats together. Someone on the floor noticed and found a way to make it work so we could sit together. The bartender was easy to talk to and welcoming, and the overall experience was relaxed and enjoyable.

Dinner at Departure was such a great experience. I tried the avocado maki, salmon maki, and a perfectly cooked salmon dish, all of which were delicious and beautifully presented. The Lucien Crémant was a highlight and paired really well with the food. Nina took amazing care of the table, always friendly and attentive without being overbearing. On top of that, the space itself feels modern, stylish, and lively, which makes the whole night even better. Definitely the kind of spot I’d recommend to anyone visiting Portland who wants good food, great service, and a memorable atmosphere.

We had an exceptional dinner and an evening at the Departure. We started with oysters and mussels, both incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared, followed by a hamachi roll that was delicate, balanced, and full of flavor. The highlight of the night was the whole duck. We didn’t realize it needed to be pre-ordered and felt incredibly lucky that there was one left. It was absolutely worth it, served several different ways, each preparation thoughtful and delicious, and clearly handled with care and expertise.
The ambiance and service set the tone for an elevated evening. Jason was attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced, making us feel both welcomed and well cared for without ever being intrusive. Add great company to outstanding food and service, and it became a night to remember.

We enjoyed our duck experience on Dec 30th with our out of town hotel guests. Everything was superb, as usual, except the service. Our waitress completely forgot to bring us our wine, so we went to the friendly bartender who Immediately helped us. Then we never received our other beverages, nor had our waters refilled. The bartender noticed all this and apparently notified the manager and a young woman named Amber came to our table. She apologized for the lack and delay of service and blamed the waitress for being simply overworked. After the whole long spiel of apologies, she just disappeared. It would have been appropriate to offer us a coffee or a dessert instead of blaming her waitress. Good service is everything.

Brilliant staff! Had lovely pre-drinks with Sasha on the west balcony til sunset. Brilliant mixology met all our demands! They let us push our dining room reso til the sky got cool, came into the restaurant and Jessie coached us on menu choices and the most exquisite sake selection to pair with the meal. He Hanna and the rest of the staff treated us like we had millions to drop and we happily tipped proportionately. I’m Canadian and will happily spill many more dollars every time I come back!!

Lovely Spot in Downtown Portland, Great Atmosphere and Quality Food
This restaurant in downtown Portland has such a beautiful setting and view. The space is charming, there’s a smaller outdoor area currently open, and we were told a larger section will open in a few weeks when the weather improves.
We ordered a lot of food, and everything was high quality and delicious. The service was excellent, staff were attentive, friendly, and constantly checking in. They walked by often to make sure we had what we needed, cleared our small table regularly, and even asked if the heater was keeping us warm enough. It really made us feel cared for.
The atmosphere was so lovely that we ended up staying for a few hours and we didn’t want to leave! But of course, it’s only fair to make room for others to enjoy the evening too.
Prices are pretty standard for a nice place in Portland not cheap, but fair for the quality you get. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice evening out, whether you’re with friends or on a date with someone special.

Great views. There are 3 different rooms and if you are coming for sunset be sure to ask for the room with food service and views. I wasn’t aware and was seated in the main restaurant facing the river and was able to see mountains but had to move to another location to watch the sunset.
Food was okay for the price. Crab mazeman was delicious. The ones I tried on the crispy menu (pork belly and tots) were mid. Very crunchy, was a chore to eat and did not have much flavor. The Brussels sprouts from the wok were quite soggy.
The espresso martini was very delicious and highly recommend.
