The chicken parm was pretty bad. Dry (over cooked) and not enough sauce. Very disappointing. Pretty surprised after a place being around this long that they can’t even get chicken parm right.
My problem was with the main dish. I ordered the diver scallops with risotto. The scallops were good. There were about 7 or 8 on the plate and a reasonable size, and not overcooked. The problem was the risotto. I appreciate an al dente risotto but this was very undercooked. To the point where the rice was actually crunchy and sitting in a puddle of watery liquid. It obviosuly was not cooked long enough for the rice to absorb the liquid. In addition, the menu mentioned pesto and I expected a small amount of pesto on the scallop or perhaps topping the risotto, but it came witha lot of watery pesto surrounding the risotto around half of the plate. I really wasn’t sure what it was for, maybe dipping the scallop in? In the end, we ate the scallops and left the risotto as it was getting stuck in my teeth and was not pleasant to eat. When our server came to collect the plates and wasn’t sure if I was done, I explained why I didn’t eat most of the dish. She apologized but that was it. No offer of bringing something else (though it was too late for that really, and I wouldn’t have taken her up on it at that point). We expected that she would have spoken to the manager or chef and perhaps comped it or done something to make up for it. So our thoughts were either that she hadn’t spoken to management about the quality of the dish or that she had but they didn’t feel the need to do anything about it. Perhaps if she had checked with us earlier they could have brought something else, but at that point my husband was done and we were ready to leave. If I lived nearby I might try again and order something different but we live several hundred km away.
Our waiter Terry was fantastic and help answer all of our questions.
The food was so remarkable and delicious! I never thought chicken dishes could be so delicious. The chicken Parm was one of the best I have had, but the Chicken Romano was so remarkable. It is a house specialty and worth every bite.
Great wine selections, full bar and great appetizers.
Views of the runway and airport and being able to watch the planes coming and going was a real treat.
They also have an outdoor balcony with seating and a bar.
Right in and part of the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport.
