When picking up the order, I started looking through the bag since the waffles were plain. As soon as I started I was told the berries and sauce was in there separately.
When got home we discovered, no specialty sauce for the waffles, no butter, no syrup, no condiments.
Eating dry pancakes and waffles is not something I expected when paying $20 a person for breakfast.
First, I’d like to express my gratitude that this restaurant was open on Christmas Day, December 25th, and for that reason, I’ve given it 2 stars instead of 1.
However, everything else was incredibly disappointing.
Our server was Sarah S. Initially, I asked her if they had bottled water. She lied and said they did, soon bringing me a glass of regular tap water. From the first sip, it was clear it was tap water. When I pointed out that I had specifically requested bottled water and this was tap water, she admitted that they didn’t have bottled water at all.
Second, I always order sizzling skillets and intended to do so this time as well. There was even a poster at the entrance advertising a new sizzling skillet dish. However, there were no skillet dishes listed on the menu. When I asked the server about these dishes, she started suggesting fried potatoes as a dish. I had to take her across the room to show her the poster of the dish I wanted. In the end, she told me they had a special holiday menu that day, which didn’t include any sizzling skillets. But later, she did bring me a menu with the skillet dishes, and I chose one.
When she brought it to me, it was clear it wasn’t prepared properly. The skillet didn’t have a protective sleeve, and I immediately noticed it was cold. The chicken pieces were tough and barely warm, heavily drenched in sauce to mask the poor quality.
We also ordered the 55+ Country-Fried Steak. Since we didn’t know what this dish was, we asked the server to explain it. She lied again, claiming it was a steak, just half the size of a regular one. That sounded fine, so we ordered it. It turned out to be a low-quality patty that had nothing to do with steak. It was 80% breadcrumbs with a faint hint of meat flavor. This deception was as appalling as the dish itself.
I am extremely disappointed with this treatment of loyal customers and would not recommend anyone visit this establishment—ever. They do not value their customers, they are insincere, and they are willing to deceive you in any way to get tips. This is dishonest.
The food was delicious. I tried the California Club sandwich and was so happy with my selection. The wheat bread was toasted perfectly, bacon was crunchy without being burned, meat and lettuce was cool, the avocado was fresh and green, and the Mayo added a tiny burst of added flavor and moisture. The seasoned French fries were steaming hot, crisp on the outside with soft centers. The whole meal was delightful!
My husband ordered the Lumberjack Slam which came with a little of everything. Again, the bacon was crisp not burned, eggs were moist without being runny, the hash-browns needed cooked a little longer and lacked the desired crunch that was expected, the ham, sausage, and pancakes were good. His review is that the meal was “fine”.
I gave this 3 stars because of the service.
I was very grateful they were open at 8:30pm on the Saturday after Hurricane Ian came through. I was very surprised to be informed they are open 24hours.
I know everyone is exhausted after going through the hurricane and I was grateful they came to work that day to feed us after a long day of cleanup and repairs. My problem is that the restaurant really wasn’t that busy and they were neglectful for extremely long periods of time that could not be accounted for by the number of guests and the seemingly sufficient staff present. We waited over 10 minutes to be sat, no one was in front of use and only 6 tables had guests. We waited over 20 minutes for our drinks and meal order to be taken, this was after I waved the server down. The food came out quickly after the order was put in, 15 minutes max, but then it was almost 30 minutes before we were checked on again by our server. Added point for the nearby waitress who refilled our drinks. The entire meal took almost 2 hours which is a little extreme for Denny’s.
We will definitely try again in a few months because I really enjoyed my sandwich but… we will plan for a time we have a couple hours to burn waiting.
I ordered turkey with 2 sides and iced tea. The mnue said sides can be switched with salad. I verified that with server when I was ordering and she confirmed. The meal arrived. Salad was good, but turkey was completely cold, togh and very old. I only took 2 bites of turkey and could not continue the rest. The server asked me “how was everything” and I answered honestly. She did not hear a word because her question was just a formality and expected no answer. The cashier charged me for a full meal plus a full salad. When I explained that server told me the side could be switched with salad, she ran out to ask the manager. She said she can not take the salad off and gave me $3 discount for a meal that didn’t even have side as was noted in the menu and was not practically consumed!!!
