In general I don’t get food very often but I’ve been to deluxe about half a dozen times since moving to Iowa City. (More then I’ve been to any other place.) Everything I’ve gotten from them has been amazing. This was my first time trying their coffee and the iced mocha I got is delicious. This trip has certainly brightened up a rough morning.

It’s my go-to whenever I want to treat myself. Everything from their savory items to sweet treats is consistently delicious. I usually grab their ready-made cakes for any special occasion, but this year I ordered a custom one and it turned out perfect—exactly what I asked for and so tasty!
The only downsides are that the parking lot is pretty small, so you often have to park on the street during busy times, and occasionally there can be some flies around the uncovered pastries, Still, totally worth it for the quality and service!

If you want a wedding cake that’s anything but basic, DeLuxe is your place! There are so many flavors to choose from — or, like we did, you can mix and match four different ones. Our cake was layered, moist, and the frosting was not that gross whipped topping stuff you get at some places. The cutting cake was absolutely beautiful, decorated with fresh flowers, perfectly blending our vision with the baker’s creative flair.
Now, let me tell you about the lemon raspberry cake… I was talking about it for MONTHS before the wedding! Seriously, it was that good.
From the initial tasting and consultation, the staff was super accommodating. We got to sample tons of different cake flavors alongside coffee and tea, which made the whole process so fun. The owner is amazing — friendly, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable about guest favorites and portioning, which helped us plan just right (hello, leftovers!).
Day-of delivery? Seamless. We even dropped off extra florist stems the day before, and they were flexible and easygoing about timing. On the big day, the delivery was so quick and smooth that we didn’t even get a chance to thank the baker — that’s efficiency!
Pro tip for future couples: Don’t stress about saving the top tier for your anniversary because DeLuxe provides a complimentary one. No more dry, freezer-burned cake! Plus, the bakery itself is adorable — a cute pink and white French-inspired spot with plenty of menu options to satisfy every sweet tooth. We make a point to stop by whenever we’re back in town.
All glowing, all delicious — we can’t recommend DeLuxe enough!

Best bakery/patisserie this side of Paris. Amazing croissants, pastries and coffee. The Nutella croissant was amazing. Not the oozy gooey kind but rich dark chocolate and super flaky croissant. All of the pastries were excellent. It was well worth the drive and have made more trips back. Excellent coffee too. Glad to have a real patisserie closer than Chicago.

Amazing cute local pastry shop! These are some of the best pastries I’ve ever had. The owner studied in France and you can definitely tell, the pastries are balanced and delicious. There’s seating outside in a small patio. This spot is clearly popular among locals, you’re likely to see older woman having lunch or moms bringing in their kids for a pick up. The space is somewhat small so you aren’t always guaranteed to have a place to sit but usually the turn over is quick so a spot opens up pretty fast.

The shop has a cute layout inside. When we walked in the staff starred at us and after a while one muttered hello. We ordered the Nutella croissant and we wanted the fruit danish but instead got given the chocolate almond croissant. We didn’t realize until we were in the car but said whatever.
If I’m going to be fully honest there was no difference between the chocolate filling of either of the croissants. Additionally, either of the croissants barely had any filling. You could taste they were fresh and for Iowa it’s not a bad pastry shop. But I have definitely had better pastries in other bakeries in other states.

We had our wedding on 10/12/24 at Prairie Patch Farm, and the bakery that made our cake truly exceeded our expectations! We chose a lovely heart-shaped couples cake along with two guest cakes, and everyone absolutely loved them. The flavors were divine, and they looked stunning!
Additionally, we ordered adorable shortbread cookies that were a hit with our guests. They added the perfect touch to our celebration. The team at the bakery was wonderful to work with, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Highly recommend them for any special occasion!
