Did not have any ice cream. A couple of friends took me to dinner the other night and after dinner they wanted some ice cream. So we stopped into DeLuca Gelato. Man, does it smell good in there! My friends both got some Gelato but I was too stuffed to eat anything after dinner. The staff were friendly and the store was bright and clean. Don’t worry, I have eaten here before, it is DeLicious !

Authentic Italian Gelato and Unforgettable Service
I first discovered DeLuca Gelato nearly twenty years ago, and one taste from their gelato case took me straight back to the authentic gelaterie of Florence my family first visited in the 1980s. Nick & Terrie’s flavors are true to the Old World—no “bubblegum” or “Ukrop’s rainbow cookie” gimmicks here—just pure, creamy gelato and bright, fresh sorbetto made the traditional way.
Before my mother passed, she told both me and Nick that she wanted DeLuca Gelato at her Celebration of Life. And so, this past weekend, Nick arrived quietly during the laughter-filled, open-mic portion of the service—dressed professionally and with his usual charm—disturbing no one. His green-and-red cart, complete with built-in refrigeration, looked beautiful lakeside in Brandermill, and each flavor was labeled with charming Italian-English signage. He personally served six of my parents’ favorites: chocolate sorbetto, cream, strawberry sorbetto, mint stracciatella (naturally snow-white, without artificial colors), tiramisu, and salted caramel—explaining each flavor with care and genuine warmth.
Guests of all ages laughed, sampled, compared, and went back for seconds (and thirds!), perfectly echoing my parents’ line: “Could we please start putting the ‘fun’ back in ‘funeral’?!?!!?”
For anyone planning a birthday, Celebration of Life, wedding, or community gathering—or simply looking for a bright, clean, welcoming RVA spot to enjoy real Italian gelato—Nick & Terrie at DeLuca Gelato are unmatched. The best gelato in Richmond, they have a lot of flavors, some of them dairy free, sugar-free.
The staff is not rude, but they can improve their customer service. Sometimes, you barely hear them, and they have to figure out it may take several minutes to choose a couple of flavors from the huge menu they have.

Never too chilly for this yummy gelato! Stopped in for an after-lunch treat on a cool spring say and was wowed by the flavors. Really liked the olive oil and salt, but went with the spumoni and was glad I did! Full of flavor and SO flavorful. Loved the variety of sizes. Great stop. We’ll be back!

Their gelato is the best, with so many flavors to choose from. Also, these cookies are also absolutely delicious. Everything is made in-house and the employees/owner are very kind. This is now going to be our go to shop when craving something sweet, which is a lot lol.
