I was looking forward to trying this place for months. I can’t believe how bland the food was and how over cooked some of the stuff was. The shrimp was so rubbery that it was inedible. The corn on the cob was WAY over done. You’re supposed to “blanch” the corn, not boil it on high for days on end. Ribs and crawfish were unavailable. Alligator was flavorless. Definitely not worth $55.

We went to the delta on the square in Galva, expecting to get some really awesome crawfish meals. We got the Gumbo and shrimp boil but we were very disappointed. The shrimp boil tasted like it was all cooked separately and the gumbo and crawfish ettoufee just tasted like overcooked rice with no flavor. The Boudin and corn actually had some bite but the rest was literally tasteless. AND they should add the hush puppies as the bread they serve with the meal not offer it as an apitizer… But the service was excellent.!!!

One star because the catfish was amazing! I mean, it was truly the best catfish I’ve ever eaten, but getting tarter sauce was harder to get than the keys to the gold vault at Fort Knox. Fish Tacos were also great! I’d have those again!

Unfortunately, the catfish and tacos is where the good stuff ended. Here’s what we experienced:

Hush Puppies: Burnt to a crisp on the outside and mushy and cold on the inside. It was almost as if they microwaved some hush puppies they cooked the night before and served them.

Baked Beans: The baked beans made me wonder whether they have a smoker in the restaurant, or whether they simply use that liquid smoke stuff and fake it. There was no flavor other than the fake smoke stuff.

Corn on the Cob: They messed up corn on the cob. How do you mess up corn on the cob? It was frozen corn that was served after it was boiled for way too long, that’s how! The corn was mushy at best.

Smoked Meatloaf: This came out last because, in the words of the waitress, it was “made fresh” for me. The presentation was depressing. It came out of the kitchen luke warm with a sort of outer shell that was rock hard and crispy. The two pieces I was served looked like two hockey pucks. The middle of the meatloaf was solidified, gelatinous, cold, and without any flavor. The only flavor was the smoke; however, much like the baked beans, it seemed to be soaked in liquid smoke, which again made me question whether they have a smoker on site. I would guess the meatloaf was microwaved as well.

Pulled pork: It was dry, chewy, rubbery, and didn’t have much flavor at all. I tried to soak it with BBQ sauce, but the three sauces I tried weren’t impressive. There’s no way the sauce is made in house. The ketchup was more flavorful than the BBQ sauce and that was disappointing.

Chicken Waffles: This is a great idea! The quality of the chicken cuts were phenomenal, but there was no flavor. Instead of covered in waffle batter, it tasted like it was only covered in flour and fried. There was no taste at all. I was disappointed.

The entire experience was a bit painful. I was expecting an authentic spicy Cajun experience; however, there was very little flavor in what we had, and so Cajun wasn’t it.

The only place me and my wife used our credit cards at the same time. A week and a half later someone used both of our credit card numbers in peoria. And the food was nothing special.
