Then at the pastry counter my favorites are the cheese pocket and a chocolate croissant. Then the fruit tarts are a must. I will be bringing a box of these home today for sure. They are a bit expensive, yet you get what you pay for and the quality is all there for the price.
I’ve been here once before, and I liked it then. This time, however, really let me down.
I started with the caprese sandwich with chips. It was quite good, but the sandwich would not stay together and was a bit soggy.
I then got a Milles Feuilles and a Hazelnut Latte.
The Milles Feuilles was a disaster. It was very sweet, first of all. There was no balance to the flavors, so it was just sweet. I also noticed something black in the cream, and upon digging it out, discovered a bug immersed in the pastry. Bad enough that it was so sweet I didn’t even want it, the bug guaranteed I didn’t try to finish it.
The latte, I asked first if they had hazelnut flavoring, and they told me they did. When I got the latte, I couldn’t taste the hazelnut, but didn’t say anything because I was thinking maybe it just wasn’t a very strong syrup. However, when charged, I saw that I was being charged extra for almond milk instead. While I am not opposed to almond milk, it isn’t what I asked for. I just paid it because I was already wanting to leave by that time.
The serving staff was kind and attentive. Both the at-table servers and the pastry counter servers seemed invested in my experience. They were very apologetic about the bug, which is really the only thing I brought directly to them. I think they would have fixed the coffee if I’d told them.
The cheesecake was the best thing, and that was a 5/10, nothing special.
The Jalouise (or whatever the chocolate cake looking thing) was decent but gummy. The flavor saved it.
The raspberry pistachio tart tasted so odd. The cream tasted very artificial and there was something just off.
The croissant bread pudding had no flavor, it just tasted like egg. What I will say is, this was just not flavor wise the best.
Overall I really wanted to like it because a lot of people hyped it up. Overrated, overpriced, and flavor wise inconsistent. I’ll spend my hard earned money somewhere else
Put the raspberry thing back and analyzed for more. Couldn’t eat anymore of anything I ordered. Called to try and tell them so no other customers would have to deal with it but no answer. I looked up their food inspection reports and their last one had dozens of violations. The lasagna tasted processed and in-authentic and ratatouille was a bunch of mushy, overcooked vegetables. The store must be a dupe as it seems hyped up, image, cost and atmosphere wise, but the food and bathroom stench was bad. Should’ve just went to olive garden. Paid the same much anyway…
They offer so many varieties of delicious delights. We had the banana french toast, chicken panini, blueberry turnover, and something rum puff.
Will pass on the rum puff next time but the other food was super nummmy.
Our waitress was lovely. Will definitely be back. Thank you <3
