Was on the prowl for spicy food in Rio, something with flavor and something that would fuel my soul. This place’s was it. Absolutely fantasy, 10/10 would come again and bring my entire lineage.

Mutton Masala – personal fav
Chicken biryani – full of flavor
Chicken Tikka masala – beautiful
Chana masala- delicious

Stopped in for lunch on a Monday at the opening time. Small take out style restaurant with limited seating.
Main courses were bit too salty but ok. 10% of final bill is automatically added as tip.

came here on the last day of our trip to rio – the food was amazing, very authentic and carefully made. service was great. you can always tell the quality of an indian restaurant by their yogurt and theirs was super fresh and home made. we had the channa masala, veg pulau, mango lassi, and sweet lassi. would definitely recommend to anyone looking for authentic indian food (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) in rio.

Very small space. Not really an enjoyable vibe, maybe some background music helps?

Service incredibly slow, but to be fair the person was attending alone.

I expected a lot from the food, because it is one of the highest rated Indians in Rio. But it was a huge disappointment, it was immensely over salted and at the same time lacking taste, I am not even used to actual authentic Indian food, but Dutch Indian food, and even the worse restaurants there are night and day in quality of the food.

I had the chicken tikka masala

I ordered the chicken tikka masala, yellow rice and garlic naan off Rappi. The food was actually really good! Very flavorful. I took one star off for the tikka masala’s small portion considering the price point. I paid 105 reais (not including delivery fees and tip). After taking out the chicken pieces, there was barely any sauce for the rice. Please consider a larger container for the delivery orders so you can include more sauce. Also, no utensils or napkins were included.

December 2025: Updated space, updated menu! I’m glad to see Delhi Magic is doing well because my husband and I love having delicious Indian food nearby. That said, I think the service in the restaurant could be improved (speed and attentiveness) and be forewarned that there is no bathroom. The flavor does change slightly depending on ingredient availability and whether they strain out the whole spices like cardamom pods and bay leaf pieces. I’m glad to see the mango lasso on the menu, and I’ll share that we requested a dish with mutton but the waiter shared that the mutton they’d purchased seemed not up to standard (anyone who has bought meat in Rio knows this can happen) so they wouldn’t serve it and apologized. It’s great that they have high quality checks. I recommend the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan. Dhanyavaad! Until next time!

January 2025: Updating my review since I’ve now visited the new location! As always, Delhi Magic brings the flavor and quality that I love and miss from my years living in New Delhi, India. The food was fresh, the same excellent taste as before, and the service was kind. Looking forward to future meals here and I encourage you to try this restaurant. Try the roti, get the bhuna mutton, and order it “medium” spicy. Enjoy!

March 2024: Re-reviewing Delhi Magic: The magic is now here. The garlic naan is tasty, the basmati rice is fluffy, and the Bhuna Chicken and Bhuna Mutton were worth it – we felt the heat when ordering “forte” ️. Interestingly the sauce seemed different between the two dishes, with the chicken dish feeling spicier and there were more tomato & onion pieces in the sauce. The lamb was soft and succulent.
The last time I reviewed in October 2023 I was underwhelmed, unimpressed, and uninterested in trying again. Today I can rescind that review and tell you that if you want Indian food in Rio, Delhi Magic is worth a try. Now, it is not as authentic as what I used to enjoy when I lived in Delhi, India, but with the ingredients available and the spices packed into the sauces, I’m leaving Delhi Magic feeling satisfied and having enjoyed my favorite spicy cuisine. I do suggest trying this location, and I want to know from the kitchen – which peppers are you using to deliver the spicy heat? Bhut Jolokia? Also, are you using yogurt in the sauces? Are you using Kashmiri red chili powder to get the bright red color?
Thanks for a tasty Sunday meal. Dhanyavaad.

YOUR HIGHNESS
They would get a five on their food, but their parking needs to be adressed. I had a car and if you’re not walking then it’s gonna be hard to visit this location so just keep that in mind if you’re driving a car, I had to pull and put hazards on my car right pass the place on the left, so I kept getting up cause I was worried about the car, ugh. But otherwise food is fantastic.
Service is great. This food needs to be in a better location. They deserve to have a better presentation as far as their atmosphere. IAnd it’s very CLEAN!!

During my stay in Rio I went here twice. The food is só delicious and also not very expensive. I read the other reviews and saw that they (probably) changed the veggie curry with more different vegetables, so that is not a minus anymore ;);)

The first time I ate here I took the paneer and the second time the chicken tikka masala. Both were really good portions and extremely good taste.

Besides this, the waiter is very relaxed and friendly as well.

The only thing that would make it a better experience in the restaurant is slightly softer lighting; the light there is quite bright. But I’m from Europe, so we’re a bit more used to that there.

5 stars definitely. Thank you!

Really excellent food, being Indian myself I didn’t expect to be this surprised in real, but it was really really good. Coming from India this is the closest Indian food. I could gladly say I would have again and again if I was in Rio. Indian based Owner and great service and excellent variety of option

We booked this place in Christmas Day, got. Information and went there to find the person had booked multiple people. There were 2 families standing there with similar situation . No tables available. I would not recommend going there for 2 reasons: you would waste your taxi money as they may not honour your booking. Secondly it’s a 2 people running a restaurant. Hiw can they freshly cook and give you food in time in 24 seater restaurant? A big warning of health safety and quality of food. Pray those who eats does not end up with food poisoning! I am not being biased but I think it was good he didn’t honour our booking as we had a long trip ahead.
