I ordered the Rajouri Garden chole bhature platter, a classic North Indian Delhi-style dish. Everything arrived freshly prepared. The chole (chickpea curry) was topped with small paneer cubes and was nicely spiced, though on the oilier side. If you prefer lighter food, this might feel a bit greasy, but the chickpeas themselves were flavorful and satisfying.
The platter also included boondi raita, chutneys, pickle, onions, a small portion of dry potato sabzi, and two bhaturas. The bhaturas were freshly fried and slightly stuffed, making them indulgent and again on the richer side. Overall, it was a very tempting and hearty meal. The portion was generous, I ended up finishing the chole over two to three servings.
I also ordered sabudana vada, a popular vegetarian street snack, which I really enjoyed. Additionally, I tried two simple tawa rotis, which were good.
Overall, if you’re craving authentic North Indian Delhi-style street food, this is a solid option. Just be prepared for a rich, indulgent meal.
Update: I again ordered from this place, and the papdi chat is really good. I actually love that they did not assemble everything and thoughtfully sent stuff separately so that it doesn’t get soggy. Give it a try. Also I got aloo paratha and dal makhni. Both tasted very authentic.
They also correctly customized spice level for all the different items based on our preferences!
Note: This is the original Delhi Chaat which was located at Old San Francisco Rd. They have a new location and new (blue) truck but it’s still run by the same friendly owner.
Due to the various location changes over the last year, many old customers aren’t aware that this food truck is still open, and unfortunately, some people confuse it with other chaat shops in the area.
Food : The chaat is really good but I have tasted some better preparations in other cities of the US. I guess the flexibility of preparing chaat to individual taste is lost because of it being a food truck. Their chaai is really good.
Price : Dont expect food truck prices. Their pricing is moderate and not low.
The owner is one of the kindest people you will meet. He was so hospitable and ensured that everyone was greeted and treated well. Its always good service that tops the food.
Will I return : Absolutely!
