The Tomatoes and Smoked Ricotta Pizza was, dare I confess, a revelation. ’It has been many years since a new pizza stirred my jaded soul to such affection, indeed, I feared myself incapable of love again until that first bite. Light as a summer whisper, balanced as a well rehearsed lie. Each ingredient performed its role with Shakespearean precision: the tomato, a tragic hero bursting with passion; the ricotta, a noble companion doomed to melt away too soon and arugula, holding it altogether like a valiant Knight.
And then, the dessert! The Buttermilk Panna Cotta arrived like a gentle epilogue after the storm. The passion fruit lent it a whisper of mischief, striking the precise note between sweet affection and savoury betrayal. One might say it tasted like love, delightful yet often, confusing.
I shall return one day, fork in hand, ready to rekindle our brief but passionate affair, provided, of course, San Francisco hasn’t sunk beneath its own rent prices by then.
we didn’t order drinks but loved every dish we ordered! the duck was a little salty still very good!
the atmosphere was good and casual which i liked. i didn’t like the music though. it’s just my personal preference.
Good:
– The spaghetti pomodoro dish was awesome – I liked how tasty and chewy each noodle was
– The bread that came out at the start of the meal was so good, and the meats it came with were so nice and refreshing
– The duck breast dish was really solid as well and I liked the crispy panchetta on the salad
– The dessert at the end was an ice cream with a baked shell and it was so flakey and crunchy!
Bad:
– It took forever for the food to get here, and our dinner ended up taking 3.5 hours since the next courses wouldn’t arrive for a very long time
– They kept bringing out our drinks to the wrong people, so I had to re-order my drinks twice
Overall this was a good Italian place and lots of variety, though might not come again unless I wanted to host a large group gathering.
The food at Delfina is undeniably delicious, with a focus on Italian-inspired cuisine. The carefully crafted dishes showcase a thoughtful approach to preparation and presentation. However, there were moments when certain dishes didn’t quite meet the high expectations set by the rest of the menu, preventing a full 5-star rating.
The service staff is attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall positive experience. Their recommendations and insights into the menu contribute to a well-rounded dining journey.
The wine selection complements the menu well, offering a variety of options to enhance the dining experience.
In summary, Delfina Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with some minor inconsistencies in execution that led to a 4-star rating. The ambiance, flavors, and service make it a worthwhile spot to explore Italian cuisine in San Francisco.
I think that many will agree that rekindling a flame is a dangerous prospect. “…we had such a wonderful time together. Everything jived between us. It was so comfortable. So exciting. So decadent”.
Delfina Restaurant is amazing. So amazing that we’re afraid to eat here again. Everything that I’ve heard over the years is true. Spending our anniversary at Delfina was a decision well made.
I’m not a food critic or one that can (or dare attempt) explain food in its intricate details. But my wife and I eat out often. We enjoy fine dining and ultra fine dining, so I’m pleased to say that tonight’s meal was one of our best.
Each course was simply amazing. It made me pleased to think of how much pride went into the preparation and presentation. By the time our 3rd course was served, my wife and I both thought at the same time, there is NO WAY the next course will be amazing. We thought that again before dessert was served. From the bread to the panna cotta, it was simply pleasure and awe.
Our server was delightful and had a charming personality. A true sweetheart that not only knew how to introduce the food but was just honestly charming. She made our wedding anniversary even more special.
The artist Sade said it well. “Never as good as the first time.” I guess that we will be back again.
