Got a burrito the size of a baby. Honestly too big but who’s going to complain about that! Window girl was amazing and I don’t understand about the miscommunication issues with the other reviews. Know where you are and if you are here I love they do things their way. Was able to order something off menu no problem but please don’t do that. Just get what they make best!
Honestly the burrito photo doesn’t do it justice. Thing literally please around 2lbs of food. Size of two tall boys at least.
I asked what kind of shells come with the carnitas tacos. I don’t think she knew there was a difference between flour and corn tortillas. I had to be very specific, and ask “are the shells made with corn or flour?”. She said flour, but it felt like she was just guessing. If it’s anything like Abelardos, then they’re definitely corn… But I didn’t want to risk receiving flour tortillas with my taco so I ordered a carnitas torta instead. She just wasn’t helpful AT ALL. I also asked if they sell Chile rellenos a la carte, and she didn’t understand me, so I asked if I can buy a single one or if I have to order the whole meal… She said I had to order the whole plate. It felt like she just agreed with whatever I asked instead of helping me to get the info I was seeking. And it was definitely not due to a language barrier, because I speak English and her English definitely reflected that she grew up speaking it.
I asked the girl for sauce. She said she already put it in the bag. I asked how many and which kind and she just smiled, said have a nice day and shut the window. So I waited and looked at the window to flag down someones attention in case she just didn’t realize I was asking her a question, and was just ignored some more.
Update after eating:
I will say that the potatoes locos doesn’t look at all appetizing. And it didn’t taste great. The tamale is dry and flavorless. The carnitas torta only has lettuce and avocado sauce. Every time I’ve ordered a torta from anywhere it comes with onion and tomato or pico de Gallo. The #12 Chile rellenos plate is good. Everything was lacking a bit on flavor, but their salsas helped that and even had a bit of heat, which wasn’t disappointing. I may try a different location sometime, but all in all, Abelardos tastes better.
