There’s soul food everywhere around the city, but when I look for soul food I want that Sunday / soulful taste. No extra sweets, spices, and garnishes. I appreciate both the food & customer service!
Everything is just so good!! Being someone who isn’t easily pleased and get paid to promote and review so especially when it comes to my food and where I spend my money! I don’t give this often 10/10 I came couples mins late after order all food fresh. Great portions, and just has that loving taste you’d get when going to nanas house . Authentic. I’ll be back atleast once a week!

I stopped in to pick up a platter at Delaney Soul Food . I ordered the three wings and two pieces of fried flounder with two sides. My choices mac & cheese and greens with smoked turkey. The food was delicious and seasoned to perfection.

Mrs Delaney is amazingly sweet and funny. She greets you as you arrive and as you leave.
Food was AMAZING!!!! HUGE portions!
I added spicy pepper to the greens when I got home, but it wasn’t needed.
Wings were perfectly seasoned and crispy.

This was one of the most pleasant experiences I’ve ever had, from the phone order I placed (that I had a million questions) to the pick up and speaking with the owner, I couldn’t stop smiling from ear to ear! And when we finally got the food home! oMG! It was amazing even my daughter (very lite eater) finished off a half slab of the ribs! This was my first time ordering and I will 1000% be back!

I was in the mood for some soul food, but too tired to cook dinner myself after a long day working on my feet. I was passing through Yeadon on my way home an Googled soul food restaurants and Delaney’s popped up. I’m so glad I decided to give this spot a try.
I called in my order and the woman who answered the phone (later I found out this was Mrs. Delaney) was so courteous and explained details about my order; namely that the shrimp was sautéed in garlic and not fried. So many restaurants have poor customer service. It was nice to have someone so pleasant on the line. As a pescatarian, I ordered the 2-piece whiting platter with shrimp and cabbage and candied yams for the included sides. I added the mac & cheese as well. I rarely eat or order mac & cheese because I make it so much for family gatherings, but I’m glad I did. It was rich and creamy and you could taste they used multiple cheeses! The fish was fried well and the breading was seasoned to perfection. I really didn’t need any hot sauce, but adding some put it over the top. The yams were sweet but not too sweet and the cabbage was good as well. I ate about half of the platter and was full and satisfied. I won’t try the shrimp until tomorrow perhaps over some brown rice. But the garlic aroma was heavenly. I really aporeciated that the food was seasoned well, but not salty. I will definitely return to Delaney’s. It’s like going to your Auntie’s or Grandma’s for Sunday dinner. You can taste the love in every bite!

Service was simply direct and straight to the point so I could get my delicious food and smash! There’s nothing like some good greens and macaroni and these are bussin bussin! Whole chicken wings & whiting, HIT! The chicken sandwich was ENORMOUS! I’m from Texas, the Souf and this fit in with our food. My only regret is not trying the candy (candied) yams. Next time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ms Tracey. Mr Delany’s wife. The food was all that my taste buds desired. I rode past their place for many years but today I decide to check them out. I got the 2 piece whiting with sautéed shrimp..greens and mac…and I got a chicken breast with potatoes salad and sweet potatoes. It was good!!!

Best soul food I’ve had in a very long time and the atmosphere of this place was amazing. Do yourself a favor and get some extra collard greens. Everything was seasoned to perfection.

Upon entering, you immediately notice the extreme lack of ambiance. The fried food/grease aroma was prevalent. It is a take-out spot. For $16-ish dollars, I almost changed my mind.
The woman who took my order greeted me pleasantly and with a smile. I settled on the fried whiting with two sides.
The fish was lightly breaded, well-seasoned, plentiful, and cooked to order. The macaroni and cheese was fairly good. I really appreciated that they used turkey to season the generously sized portion of greens versus pork. What I didn’t appreciate as much was that the greens were a tad on the salty side.
The place is a diamond and definitely in the rough. If you can get past the aesthetics of the surrounding neighborhood and the restaurant’s interior, do give it a shot.
