It’s good southern food. The worst part is the ordering process. Everyone has to order at the register. If you have an indecisive person or a family in front of you, it will take a while. Other than that, it’s pretty good. The hot chips are the best I’ve had. All were crispy and cooked evenly. Pretty rare for homemade chips. The grilled chicken was good too.

Short version: Food is excellent (especially the desserts). The food is excellent. The food is excellent.

We decided to try it, and I found it to be an outdated restaurant. The floors had food on them, the tables were sticky, and the benches had food on them. I was not impressed by the food as I had to season it myself. I believe most things are from a can. My fish was lightly battered, but I had to ask for all condiments that would come with a fish plate. The cornbread was overcooked, dry, and not fresh. The desserts looked great, but the same pride was not put in the rest of the food. I could see into the kitchen, which is a no, especially when there is a stainless steel table at the door that was covered to the floor in grim, stainless is easy to clean. I would find it hard to believe the owner is there every day to oversee the daily operations. The menue board was confusing. I don’t mind ordering at a counter, but the setup is confusing as you are not sure what to do when you walk in. It makes me feel like it used to have waitresses, but the placement of the counter is off. The positive is that it’s not a chain restaurant and needs to survive as I was told it was once a great place.

I’m so upset. We have a large family so don’t go out to eat too often. But this place is always a hit. Not tonight. We spent $76 on food. And barely ate anything. I brought the chicken pie that i ordered home for my dog. It didn’t have a bit of seasoning (i put salt and pepper on it), and i kept trying to figure out what it tasted like.. when it hit me; it tastes just like canned cream of chicken soup. Basically it was cream of chicken soup, with these pastry/boiled chicken medallions on top. My youngest kids got pasta salad, which they didn’t eat because it was basically boiled noodles with a cucumber taste. No dressing or seasoning. No seasoning on the mashed potatoes. I’m not sure what they were trying to pass as cornbread.. but it wasn’t cornbread. The broccoli casserole, fried squash, chicken tenders and hot chips were the only edible foods out of all 6 meals we ordered. The pecan pie wasn’t good. The chocolate cake was decent. And the brownstone front cake was really good. The lady behind us got a refund for her chicken because she couldn’t even cut it. We even asked if they had new owners. Because I’ve never had anything bad from here! I’m sad to say, this will be our last visit!

They don’t even deserve one star in my book. The food is horrible, the chicken pie if that’s what you want to call it was can chicken in some cream of chicken soup with 3 tiny can biscuits on top. The club sandwich was not that great either. But what makes me madder is the service that you get the drop the food and run and you never see them again. And if you need something ahead and get ready for an attitude. Worse place ever and I will never come back to this establishment.

I’ve been here several times with coworkers and it has been just OK but not bad. At least not bad enough for me to want to leave a review. Grilled chicken was burnt to a crisp on top of my wife’s wilted “salad” if you can call it that at all. It was some old lettuce with a boiled egg and some cheese on top with a tiny piece of charcoal chicken thrown on top. My wife NEVER complains at restaurants because we do understand that food can’t always be perfect. She even said “I can’t believe they carried this from the kitchen and served this to me. Didn’t they look at it?”

I loved the food but my son and his wife couldn’t stand the whole place. Her chicken pie was bad but he liked gravy but wouldn’t ask to get it put on mashed potatoes.
