Update: All tho food was good and set at a good price. I got double dip on the tip I left. Food was 26.58 and I left a 10 dollar tip total of 36.58. Then my card was ran again that afternoon for a charge of 10 dollars…. I know it’s ten dollars but sheesh I would keep this in mind, sucks because the food was good.
The restaurant was acceptably clean, and the staff was very polite and helpful.
I ordered the barbocoa plate and everything about it was so good. The meat was so tender and flavorful. The rice & beans were honestly some of the best I’ve ever had and their homemade salsas were so fresh. Highly recommend this plate!
Brandon, the young guy, who took my order and helped me out with catering was so nice and friendly. I don’t speak a whole lot of Spanish and he helped me get in contact with his grandpa to place a catering order for my birthday.
This is on my top 10 places to eat at, it is that good.
Try the chile relleno: deep fried poblano pepper with cheese inside and the sauce they comes with it – heavenly! Coke in the bottle – the only way. The red hot sauce is amazing too, as is the culture this place preserves, perfectly. The bean and cheese burrito is still good all these years later, but a quesadilla here is always good too. Enjoy! Nice to practice Spanish here and think you traveled somewhere exotic. Gringos are welcome here. It’s just Del Yaqui at it’s finest. p.s. I always ask for a side of cilantro, lime and pickled carrots.
Recently, a friend told me of his experience at Del Yaqui, so I went on his recommendation. I was not disappointed. I ordered the chile verde plate, which came with rice and beans and two tortillas. The pork was perfectly tender, the green sauce was delicious, and the dinner was served hot. My friend ordered a meal with two tacos and the rice and beans as well. Finally, we also split a full bowl of the Caldo de Pollo (chicken soup), which came with its own tortillas as well. The soup was phenomenal. I absolutely love good soup, and this was a joy to eat. All the food came in good portions as well.
The staff was very kind and explained the entrées, as well as making sure to accurately take our orders. Even though this is a counter-order restaurant, they still served the food to the table and graciously helped us when we had requests. The prices likewise were reasonable. Most meals were right at $11 each.
If you are near the town of Guadalupe, do yourself a favor and try this little gem, Del Yaqui! You won’t be disappointed!
I’m in love with it
