A must stop when you are headed thru Barstow. I can usually eat 2 Del taco tacos, but the Barstow tacos are huge and I could only get down one. That’s OK they taste great leftover as well.
Fries and special sauce are a must.
It was very busy but didn’t slow down the efficient team.
Only downfall is the local bystanders. Make sure you lock your vehicle and don’t be surprised if you are asked by outsiders to buy them a taco or 2.

This is the second Del Taco location opened and the first in Barstow. Opened in 1964 and still owned by the original family, the food is better here than at the franchise locations.

I am fortunate enough to live in Barstow, home of the original Del Taco. The menu there is a little bit different than any other Del Taco. If you’ve never experienced it, I would highly recommend it. You won’t regret it.

I had to stop by and taste the food here . I’ve been told by friends that Del Taco in SoCal is better tasting than anywhere else. They might be right
I had the double Del cheese burger combo, which is pretty normal but really good . I also ordered 2 fish tacos, and they were definitely something else . I never had fast food fish tacos that tasted so good ! They are definitely in my top 5 fish taco list . Too bad I live almost 6 hours away .

By far the best Del Taco I’ve ever been to! My chicken burrito actually had stuff in it and it was so delicious! The chicken was juicy and fresh and it almost looked like the picture! Oh and the kiddo that helped us was amazing even though he seemed a little shy. This is now a must stop when driving through Barstow! Bravo! All other Del tacos need to take note!

Drove 168 miles just to experience the famous Barstow Tacos at the original Del Taco location. I ordered the #6 combo (two hard-shell Barstow Tacos with fries and a drink), upgraded to a large drink and fries, and added two Barstow Soft Tacos since I have braces. I was excited to enjoy these tacos with an amazing view of Barstow from the top.
Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized I had been given four regular soft tacos instead of the Barstow Soft Tacos I specifically ordered. Definitely disappointing after such a long drive. On the bright side, the fries were absolutely delicious—crispy, hot, and perfectly seasoned—though I did burn my mouth in my eagerness to dig in.
Overall, the experience was a letdown due to the incorrect order, but the food quality itself was solid. If you make the trip, double-check your order before leaving.

Love it! Great old school menu, they even have the bun taco and the epic scrambler burritos for breakfast. Great service, if you dine in they bring your order to your table and have baskets of sauce at each table. We always stop on our way by.

Truly a historical spot, if ever a fan of the early days of Del Taco, this place is a must. Everything ordered has incredible proportions, all are the size of things from the early 80s, the bean and cheese burrito is amazing, the cheese is fresh, the beans are creamy, and the tortillas are warm, the tacos are huge, and the fries are light. This place rocked!!! As expected

Love this original Del Taco! if you’re going off the beaten path to get here, get the carnitas burrito, you can only get them in Barstow year round. side note – the Barstow locations cannot be ordered through the app – But so what, those Barstow carnitas burritos are so good

If youre seeking the reputable BARSTOW DEL TACO… this is NOT it. I made the mistake of visiting this location recently and the staff has a poor attitude, the food is smaller portions then what I get in town and I wasn’t really into it.
Try any of the other 2 locations in Barstow and you’ll be taken care of!
