Got tacos last Tuesday? Hardly any meat in the taco and the meat was not good. Order the combination burrito with meat and beans, and there was no meat. Then they try pushing more food and drink on you when you don’t want. Takes a long time to order and takes even longer to get your order. If you want Del Taco, you have to go to telegraph in Ford road. Dearborn heights around here.Do not go to Taylor you can’t say you weren’t warned.
It’s fast-food, with all that entails.
The interior is a small step above the burger joints, bright colors – red, orange, yellow, green – and actual movable chairs with a few booths at either end if the dining area.
Upon perusing the menu board I noticed that the burrito & taco combos come with fries. What? I have never in my entire life thought, nor heard a friend utter, “You know what goes great with tacos? French fries!”. That is a messed up combo. Rice? Sure. Chips & salsa? Great. But fries? Yeah, they have burgers, too, have your fries with that.
Fast is not what they do. They do inexpensive food, eventually. (Been writing this review since I ordered, 12 minutes and counting)
I ordered 3 chicken tacos & a small drink, $8.54 with tax. When I finally got them (14 minutes, after ordering with only two people in front of me, plus the drive-thru) the meat was barely above room temperature, so cool that the cheese wasn’t even aware it was supposed to melt. Maybe if I carried them around in my pocket for a while? Flavor was decent but too salty by a lot.
They were well constructed with the ingredients well distributed so that beats Taco Bell but the hot sauces are weak.
The music was nice, not too loud.
Can’t see returning, though.

I usually come to this Del Taco almost every Tuesday for tacos, and there’s one big reason I’ve kept coming back: the gentleman working in the back on the fryer/grill. He is consistently friendly, welcomes people into the store, gets the orders right, and makes very good food. He’s the hardest working person in the building and absolutely deserves recognition.
Nov 18th, we stopped in, both kiosks inside for ordering were not working. Every time we completed an order, the screen said the kitchen was closed. We went to the counter to order. The employee wearing a badge that said “Tamiko – Shift Manager” kept her back to us while working on a tablet, and another employee at the drive-thru window was on her phone. Meanwhile, the cook in the back was clearly the only one actively working.
When Tamiko finally came to help and we explained the kiosk issue, instead of simply taking our order at the register, she tried the kiosk herself, got the same error, and then eventually rang in the order incorrectly. She took my partner’s order, never asked if I wanted anything, didn’t read the order back, and didn’t verify it. Our food came out wrong, exactly as it was keyed in, with no apology and no attempt to fix it. When she couldn’t resolve the situation, she then said she was a trainee. I asked why her name tag said “Shift Manager,” and at that point she passed us off to another employee.
I reached out to Del Taco with my concerns on November 19 and never heard anything back. So it seems like Tamiko isn’t the only thing “in training” here—apparently the follow-up system is too.
To be very clear: the cook in the back is excellent and is the only reason I would even consider coming back. But the broken kiosks, lack of basic customer service, and no response after reaching out made this an extremely disappointing experience. This store needs to fix the front-of-house issues and support the one employee who is clearly doing his job very well.
The service and staff were on point though.
