Overall, this place exceeded expectations. The food was served hot, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere was truly top-tier—perfect for a casual yet elevated dining experience.
For starters, I highly recommend the street corn and the chile con queso. While the queso was slightly runny for my preference (I typically enjoy a thicker consistency), the flavor was outstanding.
For main dishes, both the steak bowl and steak quesadillas were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. However, the chicken flautas were a disappointment—bland and lacking seasoning, making them feel like a poor value compared to the other offerings.
Despite the flautas, the drink selection was a highlight. Though I opted for mocktails, each one was full of bold, refreshing flavor.
I would absolutely return on my next visit and look forward to trying even more from the menu.

Absolutely loved this Mexican restaurant! The flavors were incredibly close to authentic Mexican cuisine, which is hard to find. The presentation of each dish was excellent, and the portion sizes were more than fair for the price. The tres leches cake was hands down the best I’ve ever had – moist, rich, and perfectly balanced. And the espresso martini? Simply outstanding – smooth, flavorful, and a real treat for the palate. Highly recommended!

Late post! Neeley had an appointment in Huntsville so we took advantage of her making it ‘out East’ and I met her at Chuco! Long over due, been meaning to go but have barely had time to go to my own restaurant Ran into Erick at Inline and it was a sign for me to go, just didn’t think I’d have the opportunity two days later! Stephanie and Erick have created a fun environment! Service was fantastic! Can’t remember our guy’s name but he took excellent care of us. Three Amigos (warm salsa, queso, guacamole) with fresh chips! I was just telling someone I wish more places had warm salsa after my last trip to Dallas…Queso Fundido! That cheese pull could’ve been a few feet but I was hawngry! Corn Ribs?!?! Yes, please! Chimichanga Picadillo for Neeley and Hard Tacos Trio for me. Everything on the plate has a purpose. Rice and Beans, might be the best I’ve had at any Mexican restaurant in the Rocket City! If you haven’t been yet, get there asap! Congratulations, Luthers on another fantastic addition to the Rocket City food scene

Great atmosphere and service. Food was fresh and delicious. The watermelon margarita was very good. Only reason for the 4 star is drinks were received after entree and no water refills. Hoping this was a one off.We will be back!!

We visited for the first time yesterday for an early dinner. We were quickly seated near the back. Everything we tried was great. Our waiter was nice but seemed indifferent. The manager on duty was very nice. The food beat our expectations. The atmosphere is cool, it’s a tight place but that’s pretty common downtown. The backdoor is an issue when it’s cold out, it was constantly being opened and closed blasting you with cold air. Back to the food. I got a barbacoa torta and my wife had the carne asada street tacos. Everything was very flavorful and cooked well. We also had chips and salsa. We loved the salsa. Best we’ve had since we left Austin. You have to order it here. We also had a few beers. The beers came out shortly after we ordered. The chips and salsa didn’t, it came with our meals. Not sure about the timing on that. My wife also ordered a second beer about halfway through the meal. Our waiter brought it to the table when we getting ready to settle up and leave. The manager brought it back to the table and offered a purple cup so we could take it with us. We weren’t charged for it. Overall food is great. The prices were good. The service wasn’t bad but the it seemed a little out of step. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Not sure how I just found out about this place, but hands down one of the best margaritas I’ve had and the food was amazing! Definitely will be back!

As fans of The Standard Social Market, we had high hopes for a Mexican food concept of the same caliber. Del Chuco fell a bit short, unfortunately.
The restaurant itself is upscale urban. Exposed brick and graffiti walls bring texture and personality. There is ample seating and a nice bar up front. These are all good things.
During my visit, both service and food were average. Upon being seated, a server introduced herself and said she’d be taking care of us but that was the last time we saw her because then a second server took over. No problem there, just a little different. When the second server took our order, she specifically asked if we’d like the two appetizers to come out before the entree and we confirmed that we would appreciate that. As requested, the two appetizers were delivered first. Unfortunately, the entree was not far behind. I think it came out three or four minutes later, well before we’d even tried both appetizers. So that was a miss for sure.
We ordered the queso fundido and papas tacos to start. Both dishes looked good, but lacked flavor (something some salty cotija might have improved significantly). For an entree, we tried the chicken verde enchiladas. This, it seems, is where the kitchen is heavy-handed with the salt shaker. These enchiladas were way over salted, to that point where your tongue starts to pucker and sting a little. None of this was helped by the temperature of the food served; both the potato tacos and enchiladas (including accompanying rice and beans) were served barely warm. It was a major bummer!
Another minor problem was that the server, upon delivering our entree well before we were ready for it, made no attempt to actually rearrange dishes in the table in order to creat a space for the entree. Rather, she stood there expectantly, interrupting any enjoyment we may have had with the first couple of bites of our appetizers.
Our experience wasn’t necessarily bad, but based on food and service, Del Chuco certainly won’t be a frequent choice for us. It’s a bummer because I wanted so badly to find another go-to spot for date nights!

The downstairs cantina has a great selection of liquor with a knowledgeable bartender and staff. Great happy hour specials. Located off the downtown square, close to other restaurants and shops.
Possibly a one-off but the downstairs bartender was very a loud person. We measured it, his stories took the decibel level of the bar from 60 to 73 during peak passionate story time. My wife and I were so distracted by the fellow. The entire staff including bartender were very friendly.

Loved the atmosphere & outdoor dining area. Food was great – we had chicken fajita burrito & grilled fish tacos with rice & beans. Yum! The mahi was perfectly done. I love the refried black beans ! We also had a couple margaritas- a classic one & a passion fruit one w/tajìn on the rim.
We had a great waitress too – Tribly! She was very friendly , smiled, and was attentive! We’ll be back!
