Absolutely love this Japanese café! The customer service is incredibly warm and friendly from the moment you walk in. The chicken katsu sandwich was perfectly crispy, flavourful, and so satisfying. I also tried the iced strawberry matcha, and it was delicious – refreshing, well-balanced, and not too sweet. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere!

Quite unbelievable how the curry here is so authentic. Faultless in its richness and umami flavours. The chicken was also juicy and not dry. Service was attentive and warm. DekoBoko is a humble credit to Bridge road dining and worth a visit.

Vegetable curry was super delicious. The curry sauce is deep in flavour, so comforting and richly satisfying. The vegetables were all lightly stir fried before being added to the curry sauce and were tender-crisp and fresh. Loved the crunchy lotus root slices too.
At $14, this meal is an absolute steal.

Also had a yuzu soda which was tart and sweet and paired nicely with the richness of the curry.

Service was warm and efficient.

Could not fault the meal ie experience. Will definitely return.

Went here to get an iced strawberry matcha and… it tasted like straight-up MILK I could barely taste the matcha at all. See photo for reference. it literally looks (and tastes) like someone handed me a cup of flavoured milk.

If only I knew it was gonna taste like this, I would’ve just bought a whole box of milk at Coles instead

Dekoboko on Bridge Road is doing some seriously good Japanese comfort food with care and consistency. The team — which looked to be all-female in the kitchen — was smashing it during my visit.

I ordered the Japanese Hamburg steak with curry sauce and rice. Everything was great, but the fluffy egg on top really stood out — easily the best I’ve had with this kind of dish. The hamburg patty and katsu chicken could’ve been a bit thicker, but the flavours were spot on, and the pricing was much more reasonable than other Japanese cafes in Melbourne.

The rice was cooked perfectly, and the overall plate came together really well. I also grabbed a couple of onigiri for $4.20 — the lobster mayo was packed with flavour, and the tuna mayo was also a solid choice. Great value for a quick bite.

I also tried the rice burger, which wasn’t for me — the rice bun stuck to the wrapper and the texture felt a bit off — but everything else made up for it.

The staff were warm, kind, and attentive, which added to the experience. You can tell there’s pride in what they serve.

Quality food, generous portions, and fair pricing. I’ll definitely be back to try more off the menu.

Low key no Instagram influencer boosted Japanese eatery. It’s not busy, you likely get a seat. The service is great , matcha is good, not the uji quality matcha you get in Kyoto but it’s generous still decent enough to get by. Food are straight up Japanese without the la Dee da in your curry, pricing are pretty standard. You don’t feel cramped or rushed in the environment and can enjoy your food and wind down for a bit.

Amazing Japanese Fried Chicken at a Friendly Price!

Dekoboko is hands down one of my favorite spots for a satisfying meal. The prices are friendly, the service is excellent, and the food quality is top-notch. Their Chicken Namban is my absolute go-to—it’s cooked perfectly, just like in Japan. The meat is juicy, flavorful, and tender, while the vegetables are always crisp and fresh.

If you’re looking for authentic flavors, great value, and a welcoming atmosphere, Dekoboko is a must-visit! Highly recommend!

Been here a few times and every one has been absolutely amazing. Recently tried their new chicken katsu sando which is extremely good value at $12.80. It’s delicious, packed full of ingredients and a very large serving. Service is prompt and very friendly as always. Ambience inside is nice too with comfortable seats that aren’t too close together and a well-designed interior. Prices are very reasonable and everything is made on the premises, even the cakes – you can see both of their kitchens as they’re surrounded by glass. This is one of my favourite places in all of Melbourne to visit, and when I’m in Richmond I always come past. Highly recommended!

Visited this spot for lunch and I tried their chicken katsu curry and iced matcha latte. To my surprise, they served the dish with a chicken patty rather than a crumbed panko chicken. Despite this, the curry was tasty and I was able to pick a spice level, which surprisingly had a kick to it. The matcha latte was quite watery, which was disappointing. Although, I’ve heard positive things about their desserts so if I came back then I’d check their sweets selection out instead.
