Very friendly owner and atmosphere. We went to eat at lunch so there wasn’t many people. The food was delicious. We ordered the catfish with yams and Mac N Cheese and the BBQ ribs with yams and fried okra. They have weekend night’s entertainment but we didn’t stay to experience the fun. Support BB!

Let me start off by saying the people who helped me were very friendly and definitely gave off that that family vibe the moment you walk in.I purchased 4 meals and spent a little over $140. What I didn’t like is the menu online does not match what they actually sell. The lady who took my order although also very nice was very frustrating because 4 of the items I wanted were no longer available so I settled for chicken. I was expecting fried chicken but got some chicken wings that just did not look good at all. I was mad I paid all the money for that. But what is saving this rating was the sides are amazing I got greens,yams, corn bread, Mac and cheese. They really need to update their menu. Being the only soul food restaurant any where close to me I wish they would offer the typical soul food items so Im not settling for just what was there.

Found a gem while on vacation. The food was the bomb!!! Ordered some of everything to taste and was not disappointed. The owner was very cool and personable. The service was great, and the live music was an added bonus to our spontaneous visit. We’ll definitely recommend and be back.

I was hoping for soul food but end up getting charged $50 at the door upom entry without being seated, and without ordering. Was under the impression there would be a live band and then the kitchen was closed and its not specified on the website or when you show up. Owner refused to give a refund.

Joint Chiefs were very good but Skylar was amazing on drums. The food was not very good but maybe why no one was eating and my first round of drinks were watered down. The staff were friendly and attentive so that helped with the positive vibes. I would say if you don’t have plans check out Deja Blue and have a drink, it will at least put a smile on your face. Prices: $$

This looks to be primarily in nightclub. When I first came in, it was cold enough that I had to go get my sweatshirt. And I gather it’s pretty popular during the evening hours they have barbecue ribs and etc. After reading the reviews, I have to say I was a little disappointed in my breakfast. I was looking forward to the chicken and waffles, but the waitress informed me that they didn’t have that item or the shrimp and waffle.
The scrambled eggs had a grill taste and were Slightly overcooked. The grits were OK. Just kind of a small portion. The French toast, they got that right. The server was friendly and she concerned that I was satisfied. This may have just been an off day but I would give it another try.

I was skeptical..but the food was great! We had the oxtails, meatloaf, green beens, potatoe salad, black eyed peas & red beans. Oxtails were excellent! @Darryl this is from the couple from Georgia. If you are in Seaside or Monterey…it is worth the stop.

Just stopped into this place for some soul food, was lucky enough a band was playing too. Excellent food, and exceptional service.
