Me and my bf ate at here today and it did not disappoint! If you have not ate there please go!!! The owner and staff are amazing! It is Mississippi style food and the owner is from southern Mississippi! It is the best food I have had in a while from a restaurant! And the sweet tea is to die for! It is Louisiana tea with real sugar cane! Also all of their food is made in house and cut!!! Go support this #smallbusiness you won’t be disappointed! Not to mention you can’t beat the prices!!! And the atmosphere is so welcoming!!

Ordered for our entire staff at this new resturant so called soul food …. we ask for the hamburger steak to be well done it was pink in the middle 1 set of wings was to be xtra crispy they were all burnt i was highly upset the manager called us back and refused to give a refund and we were offering to bring back all the food he didnt want to hear this at all PLEASE DONT EAT HERE ITS NOT SOUL FOOD NOBODY HAS A SOUL HERE the cornbread is burnt dry and green are bitter the mac n cheese taste worst than kraft mac and cheese. I was really upset havent eaten all day and they dont allow u to chk the food they have it in blk bags tied tight as possible. Will be contacting better business as well who runs a resturant it should be called deep nasty grease we dont change. The food most certainly wasnt cooked more we are at work we didnt have a way to burn the food and if the so called manager reviewed his video footage he would see his staff carried all the food to the register we didnt have the oppurtunity to even check it. Then when i cqlled upset they said they couldnt refund for the staff to send this food out is ridiculous then i stated i want a refund before seeing the food he stated no i did not mess up that whole order. I then said i will bring the police to get our money back and then ur soooo professinal owner also stated bring them i wont do a refund and will have u tresspassed….so seems thats a threat. I recommend many people to thousands of local resturants a day. And word of mouth is how u retain business. For a owner to saying we altered the food is beyond disgusting to me and very unprofessional. A threat is to cause harm but i just wanted to return the food and get the money back. Extra crispy doesnt mean blk skin underneath the breading and the inside slimy and pink. The bone still not grey so i guess deep south is a deep mess We looked for a bbb complaint but the resturant isnt acknowlegded there. So if u want disgusting food not cooked to temp and get sick go here. I dont have to lie about any of the food and i would never treat a guest this way. Also my entire front desk staff order this food to support local resturants as we often do. I posted my true review and i know how to cook. Also any place i affliate myself with would not put this out to guests we would be embarrassed the lady also had no hair net, no gloves, was in jeans , and a tshirt and im glad i never have to make interactions with this business. I feel sorry to guests who hype this place up make people around them order and get this …………and the manager takes almost 2 hrs to call u back. Reviews are for opinions not an hr compliant.

Came here in a whim. Learned iit had only been open 3 months. I asked the waiter what to get and he suggested the chicken and waffles. Both were delicious. I then learned the waiter was actually the owner. Chris is a really great and genuine guy and opened the resturant to make a good and affordable place for the community to eat. I would definitely come here with friends any time of day:

The staff is super friendly here, but there is a disconnect of the tasting of the food. We like the menu, but let’s start with the okra not being cooked long enough for us. The cornbread was dry, and the macaroni and cheese is not cooked southern enough. There was no egg, and I am not sure if Blick or shredded cheese was used. Then, the green beans were too crunchy. There were stems in the greens. My chicken was too tough and batter too dark like the grease was not changed. I liked the blueberry cobbler that’s all

I ate at the Deep South Kitchen with a group of friends this evening. The food was delicious!! I enjoyed the pot roast w/carrots & potatoes, fried okra, pinto beans, green beans, peach cobbler and corn bread. The pot roast was perfectly seasoned, tender & juicy. The vegetables were all great. The okra was cooked to order and very crispy. The peach cobbler (which I had to bring home and eat later) is wonderful. The servings are large and I had enough for another meal to bring home. The costs are in line with other restaurants around town. The difference is in the serving size. Deep South Kitchen servings are large as opposed to most of the other southern food type restaurants which have decreased the volume of each serving due to inflation. I highly recommend trying this restaurant!

Looking forward to this place being around for a LONG time! This is a super new spot and totally worth checking out! Not only are the prices great but the food is too! I had the pot roast and finished it off with the blueberry cobbler and it was soo good!!! Can’t wait to go back.

We ate here last week and I have to say the meatloaf was fantastic! It was juicy and had great flavor. The cornbread was fluffy, the baked beans were very tasty and the collard greens were good too. This is real home made food. Portions were good and everything was served piping hot. We’ll be back to try the hamburger steak and the chicken tenders!

We had country fried steak, mashed potatoes, fried okra, and green beans. All were fabulous except the green beans. This is a wonderful place for real southern food. The owner is friendly and is obviously determined to have a great southern food restaurant. I will go back at least once a week. I want to try everything. Highly recommended for the southern palate!

What a gem in a city with so many pretentious restaurants.
Originally being from Texas and having previously lived in large cities with a variety of southern food restaurants, I’ve missed real southern cooking.
Everything here is made from scratch and delicious. I got the chicken tenders and the breading was perfectly seasoned. My sides, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and hushpuppies were spot on. My partner got meatloaf and she raved about it along with her sides.
Hospitality – down home with a personal touch. Everyone on staff was truly pleasant.
Great value – meat and 3 portions are large, enough for left overs.
Thank you for opening this restaurant. I’m glad to scratch off Cracker Barrel from our list. We’ll certainly be back on a regular basis!

Everything I had was so flavorful and delicious. Not a crumb left over, which says alot because they are serving a nice portion at a very reasonable price. I was hesitant in ordering because *almost* all “Southern Home-Cooking” restaurants are disappointing and always lack flavor. But, I’m glad I went with my gut. Definitely gained a fan and can’t wait to try everything on the menu.
