Reviews
I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Death by Pizza on June 28 with my mom to celebrate her birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Our waitress, Faith, was beyond amazing — attentive, warm, and constantly checking in to make sure we were well taken care of. She wasn’t the only one, either — the entire staff was outstanding. Every waiter, waitress, and even those behind the counter were pleasant and professional. You could tell they truly cared about each guest who walked through the door.
Faith, thank you again for the birthday cookie you surprised my mom with — it meant so much, and she loved it! The food was a solid 10 out of 10 — actually, 100 out of 100! We started with the mozzarella sticks as our appetizer, and I seriously can’t stop thinking about them. And that cookie with ice cream? Absolutely heavenly.
I’ll definitely be coming back, and I just want to say thank you to Faith and the entire Death by Pizza team for making my mom’s birthday so special. You all live up to your name because that pizza had me thinking I died and came back twice — it was THAT good!
Our waiter Daniela was really neat and detailed
She was attentive but not over bearing
The Caesar salad was one the best I’ve had in a long time. The mozzarella app was really good (keep sauce for the pizza) I loved the flavorful pizza was the classics but still very tasty.
Still has by the slice at lunch, along with added entrees. The 50/50 gnocchi was incredibly pillowy with delicious sauces and ricotta inside. The Philly egg rolls were little fried spears of the best bites of a signature cheesesteak sandwich: crispy, gooey, oniony, and meaty. The pizza is always stellar and the cookie dessert was perfect. It was their signature half pound cookie warmed and topped with homemade vanilla gelato (not too sweet, perfectly smooth) for a classic combo.
So thrilled that their second location is just as delicious as the first, with added menu items that are well-made and balanced.
Indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of high chairs for younger pizza fans.
One hour wait without a reservation.
A few empty tables inside and outside…
We ordered take out instead of waiting.
Eggplant parm hero was ok Chicken parm hero was good. Parpadelli pasta and short rib was good. Sicilian pizza was pretty good. Expensive for food that’s good not great.
I’d Gladly Go That Way!)**
Listen, I’ve had a lot of pizza in my life, but Death by Pizza in West Delray just ruined me for all other pizzas. This place isn’t playing around—they’re serving up Detroit-style squares that’ll have you questioning every thin-crust choice you’ve ever made.
Let’s start with the pepperoni pizza, which was absolutely MESA (yes, I’m yelling because it deserves it). Those Ezzo’s pepperoni cups get all crispy and hold little pools of spicy, greasy heaven. The caramelized edges on that thick, sourdough crust? *Mwah!* And that sweet sauce with just the right kick? I wanted to lick the plate but figured that might be frowned upon in polite society.
But here’s the thing—don’t sleep on everything else on the menu. The Caesar salad was piled so high with layers of parmesan and pecorino that it looked like it was wearing a cheese toupee. House-made croutons that actually had flavor and wasn’t just there for decoration? Revolutionary. It was so good I briefly considered becoming a salad person (don’t worry, the feeling passed).
And those cheeseburger rolls? GAME. CHANGER. Whoever decided to roll up ribeye, caramelized onions, and cheese whiz into an egg roll and serve it with creamy garlic parm sauce deserves a medal, a parade, and possibly sainthood. I’m pretty sure I heard angels singing with each bite, or maybe that was just me making involuntary happy noises.
But you know what really made this experience go from great to absolutely stellar? Our waitresses Jess and Diana. These two deserve their own five-star review because they were as sweet and attentive as you can get. They checked on us without hovering, made perfect recommendations, were genuinely enthusiastic about the food (which, let’s be honest, when staff is that excited about what they’re serving, you KNOW it’s legit), and just made us feel like we were the only table in a packed restaurant. In a world where good service is becoming rare, these two are absolute rockstars.
The only downside? I now live 20 minutes away and I’m already planning my next visit. My wallet is nervous, but my taste buds are doing backflips. Worth every penny and every minute of that drive past the turnpike.
If you’re in West Delray and you skip Death by Pizza, we can’t be friends. That’s not a threat, that’s just facts. Go. Eat. Thank me later.
P.S. – Make a reservation because this place gets PACKED. And bring your appetite because you’re going to want to try everything.
