Visiting Stoughton, someone suggested Deaks for lunch. It was a Monday, a little before noon, when we arrived. We parked in the lot and were a little confused about where the entrance was. There really isn’t a clear “front” door — you enter through what looks like the back, next to a fenced-off area for the air conditioner.
Inside, it feels like a typical pub, with a large bar area, video poker games (not a fan), and several different seating areas. Since it was a nice day, we chose a spot outside (we were the only ones there). We were greeted right away by our server, who brought waters and drinks.
The menu has a good selection of items. We ordered the Cowboy Burger (on Texas Toast) and a Steak Quesadilla. It didn’t take long for the food to arrive, and everything was hot, flavorful, and served in generous portions. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium. The homemade potato chips were very good and served warm. The tortilla chips were also warm — a nice touch. The quesadilla had a good amount of filling with the steak, though a few pieces were a little tough or gristly. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and we had enough leftovers to take home.
Overall, a solid lunch spot. Excellent service the entire time (thanks, Colleen). I’d be happy to stop in again.

Deaks has great service, 32 beers on tap, tons of drink options, and drool-worthy food. I’ve been wanting to go here for a few years; now that I have, I can’t wait to go back.

This was my first visit. My friend recommended it.
There were 4 of us in the party. Two of us got a bunch of apps and the other two got 10″ pizzas. The server was nice but got one of the orders wrong. The lady who brought the food out was quick and happy to make the pizza as it was requested.

It was nice and quiet tonight in the back room. Jalapeno poppers were awesome. My bacon cheeseburger seemed a little salty, I’m not sure if they season it.

We loved our breakfast! The gravy was peppery and herbal. My walleye was cooked perfectly. The fry batter here on my husbands chicken fried steak and my fish was light and crispy. The bar tender informed us that breakfast is only on weekends. It was the perfect morning! Thanks!

I would love to talk about the food but just left from an abysmal experience with my whole family. I checked at the desk for a party of five they directed me to sit at a high top in the bar, after confirming that was good I directed my family to sit while I ran to the restroom. While I was in the restroom a server came to the table basically yelling at my family for sitting at the table that we were instructed to use. It was absolutely unbelievable rude and unacceptable. We picked ourselves up and left. I refuse to patronize a restaurant that feels it was acceptable to have a member of staff speak to customers that way.

We had just completed a two-day drive moving from South Carolina to Wisconsin and were exhausted. We stopped at several restaurants where kitchens were already closed, which was completely understandable.
When we arrived here, we specifically asked if the kitchen was still open and were told it was, but only for a short time, and that we should order quickly — which we happily did.
However, when the hostess/waitress came to take our order, she asked me a question about wanting something “regular.” I assumed she was referring to the burger and answered accordingly. Instead of clarifying, she responded with a very rude and nasty attitude.
I always try to treat service staff with kindness and respect, and I understand long days and stress — but there’s no excuse for being outright mean to customers. After such a difficult couple of days, this experience was especially disappointing.
Unfortunately, despite now living nearby, we will not be returning.

Food was delicious. Minor error in one of the entrees, but remedied quickly. Highly recommend the cheese curds! The funnel cake dessert is delicious as well. (Didn’t get tonight, but it’s a fave!)
