At first glance, I was excited about the potato salad as it actually looked a lot like Bengali chotpoti, which I’ve been craving. Unfortunately, the taste was quite different. It turned out to be a vinaigrette-based salad that was far too sour for my liking.
As for the kabobs, I was disappointed overall. The tikka pieces were quite large and lacked seasoning, which made them chewy and bland. The chicken was tender but also under-seasoned, missing that savory, spiced flavor you expect from Afghani grills. The chaplee kabob was the best of the three, but even that had an occasional pungent beef smell and uneven seasoning.
Overall, the meal didn’t quite satisfy the craving for rich, meaty Afghani flavors. The presentation was nice, but the taste just wasn’t there. Atmosphere seemed to be nice.
The appetizers were the highlight—the Mantu and Aushak were both delicious and authentic. However, the main courses were a bit hit-or-miss. My Lamb Kabab specialty was unfortunately tough and overly chewy, though the chicken in my friend’s Triple Kabab combo was cooked well. We loved the chapli kabab too. We also noticed that despite being listed on the menu, none of our dishes were served with Shornakhod.
For our vegetarian guest, the Sabzi Challow was decent but didn’t stand out. Overall, a mixed experience with great starters but some inconsistencies in the mains.
The servers and personnel were very friendly and polite. My only thing was that, even if I had ordered a day early, and had reached there to pickup the food at the right time, the food was delivered almost 45 min late. But it was also a very very busy day and time for them.
We only come here for special occasion since it’s expensive. You will want to try verity and take the left over home. Yummy.
I highly recommend this if you like Afghan food. If you have not try, you should. Order what I ordered for 4.

May be I should go to dinner there tonight. 🙂
First time trying Afghani food so I have nothing to compare it to.
I had previously dined at this restaurant and had a great experience—delicious food and generous, unlimited sauces, which really elevated the meal. That made me excited to order takeout this time. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match up.
Each dish cost around $22, but they only included one small sauce per container. When I asked for more, I was charged an additional ~$3 for extra sauces, most of which I didn’t end up liking. It felt stingy compared to the in-restaurant experience, and it definitely took away from the overall enjoyment.
Sad to say, I was really disappointed this time. I hope they consider treating takeout customers with the same quality and generosity as dine-in.
That being said, they could give more meat given the price. I did appreciate the specialty bread for the table and the sizable portion of rice.
I think the place is too dark for what it is, essentially like a dive bar atmosphere, but cleaner. It felt like they should be a hookah establishment given the atmosphere. Since it wasn’t a hookah bar, the atmosphere felt off.
They also say drinks include refills, but there is no fountain drink pour. Instead, they give you a can of soda that doesn’t fill the glass.
All in all, I go for food, not atmosphere. I would definitely eat here again on that sole basis.
I ordered the “Quabili Pallow.” Which had lamb meat that slid right off the bone and just like the description mentioned, it was buried in rice, carrots, and raisins. All the appetizers were spot on, but my favorite was the “Polani,” which is like a green onion pancake.
Our service was friendly, they gave us time to choose our order, add-on or adjust rice options if needed as well. I would come back for their “Quabili Pallow”. Tasty, large portions at a moderate price.
