Dead Man’s Isle

DEAD MAN’S ISLE brings an immersive experience of tropical escapism to downtown Astoria, OR where you feel a history, a story, after you walk in and gaze upon the space and all its artifacts. Astoria being a coastal fishing town, we put a lot of nautical flare into the space that helps you feel as if you’ve been transported to a tropical island and found the long lost final resting place of the Captain, who is often spotted in the bar searching for a cocktail. Dead Man’s Isle allows our guests to experience his story and collection of lost treasures.

Made it out to Dead man’s isle this evening for some drinks and food. Amazing atmosphere. Food was ok. Drinks were out of this world.

There’s a really great atmosphere inside. The hidden bar upstairs is especially fantastic, it really makes you feel like you’re somewhere else. The cocktails are served in very cool glasses and are really fun. The staff are friendly and genuinely welcoming. I can’t wait to visit again.

My husband and I stumbled upon this spot on a recommendation from a thrift store of somewhere fun, memorable and different. Definitely did not disappoint!

Atmosphere: 1000% the fake storms, decor, Japanese bar upstairs was amazing. There was also a guy DJing that night from only his record collection and it was all oldies/island- great music choice.

Cocktails: who doesn’t love getting a tiki drink rum buzz? They are pricey, but especially if you get the house specials you will enjoy unique drinkware as well- kudos to Munktiki go ahead live a little and have some nice cocktails once in a while.

Food: loved it, we both really enjoyed our dishes. Japanese inspired and filling, fresh ingredients and I lots of veggies with my yakisoba.

We are almost never in Oregon, but we fell in love with Astoria and this spot really was such a good vibe and time. We can’t wait to come back and talk about this spot often back home.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the visuals and decorations that went into making this place. Definitely worth stopping in to grab a drink or two. The food is not good here like at all. Some of their other specialty drinks that cost like 20$ were not very good either. However, the speak easy room/bar upstairs have way better drinks. Probably one of the best old fashion drinks I’ve ever had.

Dead Man’s Isle is hands down one of my favorite bars in Astoria, and my go-to spot whenever I have friends visiting from out of town. The atmosphere is unmatched: moody, nautical, and a delight for your senses. It’s the kind of place that feels like a hidden gem, even when it’s buzzing.

Dead Man’s Isle captures everything I love about Astoria: thematic, super welcoming, and full of character. Highly recommend this spot if you want a unique, memorable night out on the coast.

This place is awesome. The drinks are decently priced, the food is fine. But the atmosphere? The atmosphere is excellent freaking A++++ perfection. Low warm lighting, a true cozy feel.

I sat upstairs and up there is a Japanese style decor and it’s simply beautiful. Accent lights rest behind and inside objects making it a nice comfy glow feel.

The service was excellent, fast, friendly,.

The best part? The had a two person live music band playing guitar. The nice things was the guitar was primarily bass guitar, and they kept the volume low enough to not drive you out of the place. A great chill vibe. Also great music choices, chill and relaxing.

I highly recommend this place, it’s simple great.

The food is not “amazing” but it’s fine and it was hot. I think it was a good experience.

Really solid place for a drink and some food. Bar tender was epic. A little slow for a Thursday but perfect for our style of relaxed drinking session. Really cool merchandise to purchase. Drinks were VERY well made. Not over powering and not weak, but the perfect amount of tasty. Thanks guys!

Fantastic place! Off the beaten path hideaway richly decorated in nautical allure, but the best part was the drink menu. I’ve never seen such an array of fresh ingredients right in front so you can see your mixologist use them in your drink. The drinks are as delicious as they are unique and served in mugs that tie in with the decor and become part of the experience.
There’s an extra added experience upstairs in the Japanese whiskey bar. This place has so much in one little spot, I will be coming back to try more of the drinks and looking forward to trying out the food as well. Great first time experience!

This bar is top tier. The ambiance is real relaxing and dimly lit at night. All of the specialty drinks are amazing, and each come in unique cups that fit the pirate theme of the bar. All of the staff are friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. They also have a Japanese whiskey bar upstairs. That is pretty unique as far as I am concerned. I would definitely recommend coming here if you come to Astoria.

Amazing spot for some unique cocktails, great food and fun atmosphere! This is a really good value place – we ordered several of their cocktails and a few of their food items and we were really happy with everything!

The food items are very well portioned for a reasonable priced and taste amazing! Definitely try the Togarashi Tots Dead Man’s Bibimbop or the Loco Moco!

The drinks are mostly rum based and are delicious! If you want something stronger, go for the Rum Barrel – a delicious rum heavy cocktail served in… a barrel mug 🙂 If you are interested in a more spectacular serving of your cocktail, try the Volcano! All the cocktails we tried were great though, so you can’t go wrong! Additionally, you can also purchase the cool looking mugs they are served in!

At the back of the bar there is also a Japanese speakeasy that serves drinks based on Japanese alcohol!
