DEAD MAN’S ISLE brings an immersive experience of tropical escapism to downtown Astoria, OR where you feel a history, a story, after you walk in and gaze upon the space and all its artifacts. Astoria being a coastal fishing town, we put a lot of nautical flare into the space that helps you feel as if you’ve been transported to a tropical island and found the long lost final resting place of the Captain, who is often spotted in the bar searching for a cocktail. Dead Man’s Isle allows our guests to experience his story and collection of lost treasures.

Atmosphere: 1000% the fake storms, decor, Japanese bar upstairs was amazing. There was also a guy DJing that night from only his record collection and it was all oldies/island- great music choice.
Cocktails: who doesn’t love getting a tiki drink rum buzz? They are pricey, but especially if you get the house specials you will enjoy unique drinkware as well- kudos to Munktiki go ahead live a little and have some nice cocktails once in a while.
Food: loved it, we both really enjoyed our dishes. Japanese inspired and filling, fresh ingredients and I lots of veggies with my yakisoba.
We are almost never in Oregon, but we fell in love with Astoria and this spot really was such a good vibe and time. We can’t wait to come back and talk about this spot often back home.
Dead Man’s Isle captures everything I love about Astoria: thematic, super welcoming, and full of character. Highly recommend this spot if you want a unique, memorable night out on the coast.
I sat upstairs and up there is a Japanese style decor and it’s simply beautiful. Accent lights rest behind and inside objects making it a nice comfy glow feel.
The service was excellent, fast, friendly,.
The best part? The had a two person live music band playing guitar. The nice things was the guitar was primarily bass guitar, and they kept the volume low enough to not drive you out of the place. A great chill vibe. Also great music choices, chill and relaxing.
I highly recommend this place, it’s simple great.
The food is not “amazing” but it’s fine and it was hot. I think it was a good experience.
There’s an extra added experience upstairs in the Japanese whiskey bar. This place has so much in one little spot, I will be coming back to try more of the drinks and looking forward to trying out the food as well. Great first time experience!
The food items are very well portioned for a reasonable priced and taste amazing! Definitely try the Togarashi Tots Dead Man’s Bibimbop or the Loco Moco!
The drinks are mostly rum based and are delicious! If you want something stronger, go for the Rum Barrel – a delicious rum heavy cocktail served in… a barrel mug 🙂 If you are interested in a more spectacular serving of your cocktail, try the Volcano! All the cocktails we tried were great though, so you can’t go wrong! Additionally, you can also purchase the cool looking mugs they are served in!
At the back of the bar there is also a Japanese speakeasy that serves drinks based on Japanese alcohol!
Food is craft level. Friendly Staff and people are all smiles once they take that first sip.
