We knew this was going to be a good experience as when we exited our taxi the door to the restaurant opened and we’re greeted with a friendly smile and warm welcome. We were promptly sat at our table, which was set perfectly, amidst a beautifully appointed dining room. It appears that no detail was missed and every decision was well thought out on the decor.

Our service can be wrapped up in one word, outstanding. Our waitress, Thalia, came by within a minute or so and set the evening off by outlining the cocktails and taking our drink orders. After our drinks appeared she jumped into explaining the amuse-bouche which was placed infront of us, a beautiful salmon dish which set the culinary pace for the evening, it was delicious.

For appies we shared in the Burrata Salad which was so fresh tasty, the Ahi Tuna was amazing and the Steak Tartar could possibly be the best we have ever tasted. All of the appies were presented beautifully and were fully explained by our waitress.

For the mains we had the Beef Wellington and the Buffalo Ribeye. The Wellington was wrapped tightly, the pastry was flakey, and the duxelles was flavoured beautifully, the tenderloin was cooked to perfection and tender as you would expect. The Buffalo Ribeye ranks up there with one of the best steaks we have ever ordered. It was cooked to perfection, the crust and flavouring was perfect, complimented the ribeye but did not overwhelm the Buffalo taste. Each bite melted in your mouth.

The plate presentations were simply perfect, the edible flowers were a great touch. I’ll say it again, our waitress Thalia was so knowledgable, helped us with our food and drink selections, had a great sense of humour and appeared just when you needed her. Speaking of the menu, you are presented with a tablet and can scroll thru the menu so easily. This took the struggle you sometimes have with font size and room lighting, we really appreciated the tablets.

Lastly the drinks, oh my, the drinks were awesome. The Old Fashion was on point and La Palomita Martini was both beautiful to look at and delicious to drink.

Overall, everything was perfect, exceeded our expectations and provided us with an exceptional level of service and cuisine. We left as it began, the door was opened for us, we were wished a terrific evening and our taxi was waiting. It is becoming increasing difficult to find this level of professional service and exquisite food these days. This is an independently family run restaurant and the care and attention to detail shines through. Highly highly recommend paying De Baca’s a visit.

We celebrated our 26th anniversary here and was so glad we did. Thalia, along with the entire staff made sure our evening was memorable and special. When we arrived, there was a Happy Anniversary note on the table, surrounded in red rose petals. Such a wonderful, personal touch. We ordered the charcuterie board and it was FANTASTIC! We will definitely be back. Thank you to Thalia for making our anniversary one we will remember for a long time.

This is definitely a Date Night place or a special get together! The prices are really high. However, we had a fabulous evening for Valentine’s Day! We had been wanting to try it for awhile. So, I’m glad we were able to. Our waiter was very informative & definitely rolled out the red carpet for us & made us feel special on our first visit there. We had a lot of food and I took some home. Tip: you could definitely share to cut down the prices a bit. We had the meatball appetizer (9.8/10)! It was so good! I will say if you are sensitive to spice like me, it was pretty spicy, but it was so good that I kept eating it & even asked the waiter to keep the extra sauce in the bowl so I could try it on my salmon and I was right! The sauce on salmon mixed with the butter sauce the salmon came with was chef’s kiss perfect! ‍ For our entrees: I of course had the Scottish Salmon and potatoes. It was really good! The salmon was crispy on the outside and super moist on the inside! (9.5/10) My husband had the Ribeye & Baked Potato! He said his was really good too! My drinks were mid for the price. However, I appreciated that they went out of their way to make me a different off the menu Valentine’s drink since I don’t like gin or spritzer drinks which was the special drink for Valentine’s Day. Another tip: bring cash for valet. I didn’t realize they had valet, but I was so glad I had cash on me already which I rarely do. I saw another review about the tablet menus being weird! I thought they were really cool & different. I kind of want to go back just to look at the menu again lol Overall experience: 9.8/10 (only losing points for the cost).

Loved this place. Great staff, from the hostess who sat us at a great table with a terrific view of the sunset. Our waiter was very friendly and our food was on par. Chicken Cordon Bleu was moist and flavorful. My husband enjoyed the Chateaubriand, the beef was deliciously seasoned and soft. We paired our plates with delicious cocktails. And to end our night we ordered the Blueberry Bread Pudding, it was slightly too toasted on the outside but after I dug to the middle, it was deliciously decadent. Will most definitely plan a trip back.

Jayson was our server and he was the best server we’ve ever had. Patrick the chef is super cool and makes incredible food! We had the salmon & buffalo ribeye. We can’t say enough good things about this establishment. It’s an experience, not just a meal. From start to finish they treat you better than family. It is now our go to on special occasions. Attention management Jayson & Patrick need raises!

I’m giving De Baca 4 stars and my wife says three. Here’s why: For the price, the service should be spectacular. Our server was very nice, but not that attentive. There where a couple of times where I needed something and he walked right in front of us, gave no eye contact, didn’t check if we needed something, and walked right on past. I actually had to flag people down a few different times. Also, they gave us dirty silverware. Like so dirty, food was crusted all over two of our soup spoons. My filet was indeed cooked perfectly, but we did not care for chicken cordon bleu. I cook chicken cordon bleus at the crib all the time and this one was not very appetizing. The sauce just didn’t smell appealing and with bone-in you really just don’t get much food for the price they charge. I recommend a large chicken breast that is stuffed with ham and swiss with a nice crunchy breading on the outside. Next, the butternut squash soup was great, but not as great as a lobster bisque with chucks of loster tail in it. Also, charging 70 bucks for a beef wellington is too much. Overall, service and cleanliness are key for that kind of price at a high end steakhouse.

Aspen, the bartender, truly elevates the experience. Her wine recommendations are thoughtful and spot-on—she takes the time to ask what you enjoy, explains options without being overwhelming, and pairs wines perfectly with your meal. You can tell she genuinely understands the menu and cares about making sure each guest finds something they love.

Rusty, the manager, sets the tone for the entire restaurant. He is attentive without hovering and makes a point to check in to ensure everything is exactly as it should be. His commitment to guest satisfaction is clear—he wants every plate, every drink, and every interaction to meet the highest standard.

Between the outstanding service, knowledgeable staff, and attention to detail, De Bacca Steakhouse stands out as a place where guests feel valued and well taken care of. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience done right. Highly recommended.
Thank you for brining a big city experience.

Wow! What a treasure to have in South College Station. Beautiful atmosphere, outdoor patio seating, quality ingredients with interesting upscale dishes. Something for everyone. And if you are lucky enough to get Tim as your server, you will be well taken care of. Will definitely go back! So glad they lowered their prices. So not just for date night anymore.

I searched for Best New Restaurant in College Station and De Baca Steakhouse was at the top of the list. For good reason, too. My steak was delicious, the pheasant was wonderful, and I especially enjoyed the maple creme brulee.

I tried this restaurant for the first time today for my birthday brunch, and it was a lovely experience! The atmosphere is elegant and upscale — perfect for a special occasion. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. My portion was just right, though my husband’s could have been a bit larger for his appetite. The service was attentive and friendly, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, a great spot for a refined dining experience — I’d definitely come back!
