In 1985, at the young & ambitious age of 24, Steve DiFillippo purchased a locally-owned family restaurant called Davio’s on Newbury Street in Boston’s trendy Back Bay. As Boston’s culinary tastes evolved, he transformed the location into a destination. He retooled the menu, the space & wine list. The new Davio’s garnered rave reviews. Everything is made by hand from the best ingredients. We serve aged steaks to simple-yet-unique pasta creations. Mirror this philosophy in the kitchen with our expert and attentive staff in the dining room, seeing to your every need and taking pride in your enjoyment of the meal. We have since opened locations in Foxboro, Chestnut Hill, Lynnfield, Braintree, Seaport, MA; Logan Airport, Atlanta, Texas & KoP, PA

However, I was highly disappointed by the service during our last visit. I am a regular bourbon drinker and it is my go-to for nights out. I ordered a bourbon neat based on the options and pricing that were provided to me in the menu. The bourbon was listed at $14 and we were charged $20. When we asked about the charge the bartender said it was because I ordered it neat and there is an upcharge of $3 to do so. That was never specified or stated. It also didn’t account for the higher price charged for the bourbon itself despite what was listed in the menu. The bartender requested a manager come over to adjust the price but then the manager proceeded to still charged the $3 upcharge rather than honoring the price on the menu. I’ve never experienced this practice even at very high end restaurants when ordering bourbon; in the rare chance there is a discrepancy in pricing, it always called out. The manager should have at least honored what was listed rather than “sort of” fixing it. Complete service miss.
Drinks took almost an hour to get to us, there were only 5 of us and 4 of us got drinks. Had to ask multiple times where our drinks were.
Appetizers came out relatively fast compared to when our entrees came out, doesn’t say much though as the entrees came out almost and hour and a half later. As well, the steak that was ordered medium, was RAW, not rare, RAW. Told our server and got the manager. Server was apologetic and she was good, but the manager did not even apologize. When they brought our steak back to the table to “fix it” the steak was rare at best still. But we didn’t wanna say anything as we were all finished eating by the time the new steak came and it wasn’t worth the further hassle.
The birthday dessert was comped, but no candle. They should have comped at least half the steak meal as well, especially with the long wait time and poor service overall. One of the longest wait times at a high end restaurant like this. Spent over $500 for poor service and experience.
Would not come again. Eddie V’s is much better and the service is 1000 times better!!
We even hosted our elopement reception in the private dining area, and it was a wonderful experience. The management team—specifically Savannah and Korinna—is attentive, thoughtful, and always goes the extra mile to ensure we’re taken care of. A special shout-out to our most recent server, Mark; he was so engaging and funny that we could have spent the whole night chatting with him! We are never disappointed here and cannot recommend them enough.
Dining at Davio’s is not just a meal—it’s an experience in excellence. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism that immediately set the tone for the evening. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between upscale and welcoming, with tasteful décor, soft lighting, and just the right volume of background conversation and music to allow for intimate conversation.
The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list, and offered thoughtful recommendations that enhanced every course. The pacing of the meal was flawless—no rush, no lag—just a seamless flow from appetizer to dessert.
The food itself was exceptional. The house-made tagliatelle was perfectly al dente, tossed in a delicate truffle cream sauce that was rich, aromatic, and elegantly restrained to let the pasta shine. The center-cut filet mignon was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and plated with roasted root vegetables that added a beautiful seasonal touch. We also tried the lobster risotto, a rich, decadent dish that was expertly balanced and deeply satisfying.
Wine selection? Outstanding. The sommelier helped us choose a bold yet smooth Barolo that paired beautifully with our entrees.
To finish, the warm butter cake was a revelation—crisp on the outside, soft and fragrant inside, served with fresh berries and a scoop of vanilla bean gelato that completed the evening on a perfect note.
In a city filled with fine dining options, Davio’s stands out for its consistency, quality, and refined hospitality. We will absolutely return and recommend it wholeheartedly for business dinners, celebrations, or a romantic evening out. Bravo, Davio’s
