What impressed me most was the service: fast, professional, and genuinely friendly. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, they welcomed us right away and sat us in a great spot — right in the middle of the restaurant with a view into the open kitchen. It’s fun to watch the chefs in action while you dine.
The restaurant’s interior is elegant but comfortable. Crisp white tablecloths, high ceilings, free-flowing space, and enough bustle to feel lively without being chaotic. Davio’s is located in Back Bay / Park Square, so there’s a nice balance between that classic Boston charm and easy access.
If you want a special night out with great food, polished service, and a little peek behind the kitchen door, Davio’s is a strong choice.
We shared everything, per usual, to try more. We started with the tomato soup and beet salad. The tomato soup was savory and delicious. One could hope for more crostinis with goat cheese of course. The beet salad was strange. I feel that it needed to be served atop greens. The fried goat cheese balls on top were what I liked about it. For entrees we did the split versions of the tortellini and the gnocchi.
The gnocchi direly needs a little sear. They are so mushy. The flavor is good but the texture is so bad. The tortelloni was under al dente. You could see that the pasta was not cooked through when cutting it on eat.
Unfortunately, our server was also the bar tender so he did not make it to our table to offer fresh cracked pepper or freshly grated cheese for the pasta. I think that may have made it slightly better but the massive technical errors were a huge let down, especially at the price point.
We had a reservation so it was easier to find a place. The hosts at the reception were warm, but the server (a lady) was extremely hostile and indifferent. She behaved as if we weren’t capable of giving her a good tip!!
The food and the ambiance were good.. It’s an expensive fine dining restaurant. The food quantity is less for the price
We asked for a half bottle of zinfandel and were rudely informed that it’s our stock!! So we settled for Merlot instead.
We ordered the chicken liver fry for starters and 10oz beef steak with blue cheese mashed potatoes. The food was delicious.

I am writing this a couple of weeks after our visit, and the fact that it’s still on our minds is exactly why I felt compelled to leave this review.
My girlfriend and I had a reservation at Davio’s Back Bay for 5:45 PM and arrived about 5-10 minutes early. Despite this, we were not seated until 6:00 PM, and once seated, we did not see a waiter until approximately 6:15. During that time, we observed multiple parties who arrived after us, including larger groups, being seated before we were. For a restaurant of this caliber, that delay was disappointing and immediately set a poor tone for the evening.
While we may appear on the younger side, we were dressed appropriately and were fully aware of the pricing and expectations that come with dining at Davio’s. We are well over the legal drinking age, yet it felt as though our age may have influenced how we were treated. From our perspective, once staff saw us, our table assignment appeared to change, and we were ultimately seated in the back corner of an extended function room alongside children and families. It felt less like intentional placement and more like being pushed aside as if we had walked in off the street hoping for a table or a seat at the bar.
To be clear, the food was good and our waiter, once he arrived, was fine. However, the overall experience was disappointing and made our reservation feel completely invalidated. We expected better organization and a more equitable experience from a restaurant with Davio’s reputation, and unfortunately, it fell far short of that standard.
As a final note, the validated parking pricing listed on Davio’s website does not align with the actual cost charged at the garage. Also our time being parked would have been shorter if we had actually been seated at the time of our reservation. Discovering this discrepancy at the time of payment was an additional, unwelcome surprise at the end of what was supposed to be a pleasant evening.
What made the visit special was how accommodating they were with kids. The staff was friendly and attentive, making it a relaxed dining experience for the whole family. The atmosphere was upscale yet welcoming, and they provided options that were kid-friendly, which is always appreciated.
Overall, it’s a great place for a family dinner in a nice setting, especially if you’re dining with little ones.
He and the other bartenders were busy due to the NYE crowd, but were personable and professional.
On one of their busiest nights, the maitre d/manager was accommodating and helped change our reservation from 2 to 4 which was appreciated. Thank you.
Dinner was fantastic. We ordered from the prefix menu which was all a person could ask for. Great quality at a reasonable price point.
The service, food, ambiance were all top notch. I am glad we chose Davios, Back Bay to have dinner on NYE. What a great way to say farewell to 2025 and ring in 2026.
