Amazing food. Drinks are good. Service was decent, but she could’ve been more attentive. Dishes are unique and creative as well as the drinks. Ate everything on our plates. Small portions for the price for sure but you don’t leave feeling overly stuffed. Perfect amount for me. My husband still needed to eat more when we got home. We split an app of the truffle fries and the greens salad. Both small portions but very tasty. I got the pepper crusted steaks with fall veggies and garlic mashed potatoes, it was amazing. My husband got a fish and lobster risotto with asparagus, soooo good. Overall, for a quality dining experience in Portland, its worth it but best saved for special occasions in my opinion. Two appetizers, two entrees, 3 mixed drinks and a beer, and one dessert cost $180. Add the hefty Maine state tax – $20, and the tip – $40, the total cost is $240. I went home full and satisfied but for $240 I really would hope my husband wouldn’t need to eat another meal and hour later when we got home.

We had a terrific dinner for four people! The service is wonderful. A Margherita pizza; steak; salad; drinks.

We have since gone back and sat at the counter looking into the bustling kitchen. Great cod dish, best shrimp cocktail ever, terrific dessert.

I had a great time at David’s and the flavors of my meal left a lasting impression – it was divine! I came by for a celebration night before a concert at the State Theater. It’s at a walking distance even in deep winter. David’s has a cozy romantic vibe and I enjoyed it a lot. My server was very polite and welcoming. I definitely recommend it to anyone in the area!

Given the recommendation we were disappointed. While the food was good it wasn’t over the top. We had the raw oysters, green salad with crab, tuna and scallops.

The salad was had only a few lettuce leaves and the tomatoes were bland.

The tuna and scallops were well prepared and good.

The service was ok. With so many choices this didn’t stand out.

I loved eating at the kitchen bar here! My mom and I had a rather early dinner here. I was able to make the weekday reservation on the day of. They do implement a $25 cancellation fee if you are a no-show, FYI! Great food (the mushroom ravioli was our favorite) and excellent service. I shared some pics here!

I do have one plea: David, please add additional ventilation. The range hood was clean and in working order, but it wasn’t enough adequate ventilation. Those cooks’ poor lungs! The regular ceiling vents (2x, seen in pic) were very clogged with oil and soot. The pizza area NEEDS its own range hood or something! Don’t sit at the kitchen bar if you have asthma! See pic!

Really great food and service! We sat “in the back” which was actually the best seats available.
The baked Brie was prepared excellently. The main courses, filet shrimp and scallops and the open faced lobster, were the perfect temp and scrumptious.

I got the pepper crusted sushi rare tuna which was cooked and presented to perfection. For dessert, we had a lovely chocolate mousse cashew pie with chocolate and caramel drizzle. The menu had many options and our server was excellent and answered all of our questions. The restaurant handled a large crowd very well, even when the rude customers in front of us were giving them a hard time. Overall, excellent experience, and we hope to come back next time we are in Portland!

Food was really great. Good selection of entries. I had cod, my partner salmon. They have an online reservation system to hold tables for a certain time.

Many times in Portland, first time at David’s. Excellent from start to finish…

Smaller place but they nicely accommodated our party of eight. Our server was awesome dealing with our group (that may have gotten a bit loud for the other patrons at times…I sincerely apologize).

Universally, everyone commented on their meal with nothing but high praise. I can directly comment on the crispy duck breast which was very tender with a perfect crisp on the skin paired with some tasty risotto and spinach. The mushroom ravioli had a nice earthy flavor with a Madeira cream that was to die for…

Must have on the garlic knots…wow. We also had a couple orders of deviled eggs with caviar…what a perfect flavor combo. They were clearly popular as they ran out of caviar for one of our orders but graciously gave us a couple extra eggs. Side note, the server definitely let us know that they only had enough caviar for one order and we said give us the second one anyway.

Overall…great, cozy place for fine dining in Portland.

Came on a Sunday night. Was able to get in on fairly late notice. Awesome food and service. Parking was fairly easy … found a spot on the street.
Had watermelon gazpacho (special) , crudo (daily special) and lobster roll with fries (very delicious and fresh)
