This is so bad. The place looks nasty inside and out. I trusted the recommendations online and still went in and ordered.

All their food looked like it’s being marinated in some watery sauce in the refrigerator. I thought the process is: I pick out the types of seafood I want and they cook it for me. Turns out those cold shrimps and crabs and eggs are already cooked and they ain’t doing any reheating for you. The food I got was refrigerator temperature.

Okay that’s fine, thought I’d do the reheating myself. However, the flavor is also bad, the sauces are watery, which makes it even more disgusting. Ended up throwing the whole thing away.

The portion is also small for the price. The lady at the place was indifferent and not helpful. As my first stop here in Savannah it’s very disappointing and a bad first impression.

I passed by Savannah and decided to give David’s a try. It’s so DAMN GOOD! Best taste boil in the US! Say the magic word and you get a generous sample taste. The Kdot crab and mussels are extremely good. We ordered small lowcountry boil and it’s very filling for two ppl. The potatoes are cut into chunks so they’re seasoned well. The whole boil is crab flavored. It cured my broken heart from some “popular fancy restaurant” in historic area. I would definitely go back to David when if I travel back here in the future.

Take out only. The garlic crab was amazing. super fresh, meaty, and full of flavor. The crawfish and conch were just as good, perfectly seasoned and cooked. Everything tasted really fresh and well prepared. Highly recommend if you love seafood that’s done right.

If you love good seafood, definitely visit David’s Crab House! When we visited Savannah in September, we made sure this was our first meal — my husband’s research said this was by far one of the top local favorites. There’s no seating — you order (in our case we ordered ahead online), get your food, and take it to your car/hotel/home/park bench/etc. to eat. If you get their famous garlic crab, I wouldn’t recommend eating it in your car — it’s dripping with their delicious garlic sauce. The cost per person for us was a little high because we ordered enough for at least four people since we wanted to make sure to try all the items that caught our attention. We enjoyed a banquet of: 1 lb. of garlic snow crab, two deviled crabs, crab rice, conch (never had it and jumped at the opportunity), seafood salad, and one garlic egg (just to try it). ALL of it was absolutely delicious! By the end of the amazing meal both our hands and forearms were covered in garlic sauce from the luscious snow crab and there was a mountain of used napkins beside us. The conch was really tasty, their deviled crab ended up being our favorite version from our entire trip, the crab rice and seafood salad were great, and the garlic egg was a revelation (pretty sure it had a bit of their yummy vinegar based Alyee hot sauce on it). This is now on our “must go back” list of restaurants.

I can’t say enough good things about David and his spot. He’s one of the coolest, most genuine guys you’ll meet in Savannah. He took the time to chat with me and even let me try some of the food before I ordered, something you don’t see often anymore. The seafood was absolutely incredible; fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. From the crawfish to the crab legs, everything was on point. On top of the great food, it was just refreshing to meet someone as kind and welcoming as David. If you’re in Savannah and craving seafood, do yourself a favor and stop here, you won’t regret it.

I’m so confused on what the hype is about… The crabs were tiny and mushy! I paid $30 for sides basically, bc I got 5 (halves) crabs, that’s 2 1/2 whole crabs. My first and LAST time!!!

Delicious garlic blue crab and mussels! I wasn’t expecting it to be cold but I guess that’s how they like it in Savannah. No worries. Got the crab rice also and it was good. Alot of food for the money.

Stopped in for an early lunch… the wonderful fresh smell of a fresh seafood shop filled the air. Greeted by a wonderful southern smile from the young lady.

A nice selection of seafood choices.

I picked up the conch in garlic butter – yum.
The Alaskan crab legs & local blue crab in garlic seasoning were uniquely flavorful. The shrimp in hot sauce were a new taste for me.

The blue crab rice was also neat with the brown rice. I like adding the garlic butter to it for additional flavor. I got to try a crawfish and it was one of the best I have had.

I finished the meal off with perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs, so fresh!

Prices were great for this little local take out joint. They were able to heat up the conch so I could enjoy it on the go.

The food at David’s Crab Shack is always great—that’s honestly the only reason I continue to come back. However, the customer service at the register is consistently disappointing. On my most recent visit, I was charged an extra $2 for heating and butter, which has never been an added charge before, and it wasn’t explained clearly. The attitude at checkout felt rude and unwelcoming, which takes away from an otherwise good dining experience. Mr. David, I strongly suggest reviewing customer service standards and staffing, because the food alone shouldn’t have to carry the business.

The last time we were in Savannah I saw a gentleman in the lobby of the hotel from a distance eating what I assumed was ice cream. . When I inquired, he said he was eating Conch from David’s Seafood. I purposed to visit David’s when we returned to Savannah. This time my nephew traveled with me and we decided to try it out. The cashier was so kind and helpful and because it was our first time visiting, we were allowed to sample a variety of items before we made our purchase. They hooked us and reeled us in, and because of those samples we ordered shrimp, conch, crab rice, sausages, corn and boiled eggs. Was it good? You bet your bottom dollar it was good!!!!! My wife doesn’t eat seafood, but you can be assured that I’m going back to this takeout only establishment when we return to Savannah.
