Went for lunch and got the $9.99 shrimp basket and my husband got the $9.99 catfish basket. The food was delicious and came out quick. The fried okra brought me back to my childhood of summers with grandma. The fries were thick with the right amount of salt. Staff were friendly and lobby was clean. I plan on returning next time I’m in town.

I have been to David’s Catfish house. This was my first time going to David’s Catfish House Express in Daphne. Immediately greeted by our order taker. Very informed on the menu. She was helpful with suggestions of the menu. Of course, I wasn’t able to eat all of my green tomatoes. I ended up getting a to go box from the young man in kitchen. Tables were cleaned as soon as customers left. Free refills on sodas, nice selection of desserts. I highly recommend this jewel. I will be going back for the lunch special from 11am till 2pm.

I enjoy going to David’s Catfish Express. It is a great place to grab a quick bite of seafood. The drive thru is a great thing and has quick service. The choices on the menu have grown and gives you a lot to pick from. We came here to pickup takeout for lunch. My wife got a 3 piece catfish basket. She said it was fried crisp and really enjoyed it. I wanted to try the Shrimp Po-boy. I have had the fish before and prefer to eat that at the actual restaurant in Spanish Fort. The po-boy was loaded with great tasting shrimp and had a soft bread that made it easy to eat. The fries were soggy and not special. That could be due to it being in the takeout box for 10 minutes so who knows. I will try a few more things they have to offer and review those items too. We will be back and look forward to another visit.

Smooth transaction using their online ordering option. Just order online, drive to the business and get in their drive-thru line & then tell them you had an online order. Easy!
Negatives? I find their hushpuppies to be very disappointing. Pre-frozen balls of bland-ness. The cat fish fillets are tiny too. I don’t eat greens, but husband said they were good. Overall it’s good, but kinda pricey for the portion. Very polite staff, which is always nice to encounter.

This definitely was not worth $11.50. The grits did not have any flavor and the fish didn’t have any meat on it. It was majority breading. The only reason I didn’t go back was because I was pressed for time. Smh.

To me, growing up in the area & eating this for many years, this Express restaurant is a racket. We got very little food and it was over $50! The shrimp baskets have a “handful” (their words) of shrimp in them. Turns out that’s 5 or less shrimp. We paid $14.99 for 5 shrimp, a very small thing of coleslaw and a few fries. The fish was so hard I couldn’t eat it. I will NOT go back. Oh and I paid $4.50 for a pint of coleslaw. That’s what they are known for. I can normally make a meal off of it with some crackers. It was a complete letdown to bite into that and it tastes NOTHING like David’s coleslaw. If this place is going to make it it has to do something about the portion sizes, service, consistency and prices.

I’m a David’s fan…just not an ‘Express’ fan. The fish was great…a straight up 5. The hushpuppies a 1…fries, a 1, onion rings….a 1. Our excitement of having David’s so close and available quickly turned to a huge disappointment. For $6.99…we got 8 onion rings, a Shareable???, that appeared to be out of the freezer and into the oil. I really, really hate it for David’s…was hoping it would be a go, but unless we see better reviews, this Express will be a No.

This place is GREAT! I don’t know why it’s not a 4.5 star or more restaurant, because the food is great, it’s clean, and the staff are so nice. I love it!
